Yanis made a sound of confusion, "What's wrong?"
Zane bit his lip and fixed his gaze on Yanis' lips. "Yanis, can I cross the line?"
Yanis made another sound of confusion, clearly not understanding what Zane meant.
But before she could react, Zane pulled her onto his lap with some force.
As soon as Yanis sat on Zane's lap, almost instinctively, she lifted her hand and hooked it around Zane's neck.
Zane didn't give her a chance to calm down; he tilted his head up and pressed his thin lips against hers.
A faint scent of medicine lingered in the air between them.
Yanis tightened her grip around Zane's neck involuntarily.
The kiss didn't last long; it was just a light touch that was restrained yet repressed.
Afterwards, Zane let go of Yanis and looked at her sincerely. "I'm sorry I crossed the line."
Yanis couldn't even come up with a rebuttal; she stared at him for several seconds before quickly standing up from Zane's lap as if just coming back to reality. "Um... I... I'll go put away the medicine box."
As she spoke, Yanis turned around to sort out the medicine box on the table.
When Yanis finished packing away everything in order, Zane also stood up while picking up one side of his coat,"It's getting late now, I should leave now."
Hearing this, Yanis halted what she was doing and turned to look at Zanes. He had already put on his coat and was adjusting his collar. Yannis stared blankly for a while before saying,"Then why don't we go down together?"
Zane agreed, and they went downstairs together. Yannis put away the medicine box first, before walking with Zane to the car door. "Drive safely," she said as he opened the car door.
Zane looked back at Yannis standing in front of the car and said, "Yanis, I want to cross the line again."
With what happened just now, Yanis made an almost subconscious move by covering her mouth with her hand and saying, "No!"
But then Zanel smiled softly and stepped forward, pulling Yani into his arms."I just want to hug you."
His warm breath spilled over Yani's ear, making her shiver involuntarily. This hug was like thatkissfrom earlier, itdidn'tlastlong. Zaneloosenedhisholdonherandsaid, "Go inside. Goodnight."
Yani nodded slightly, "Goodnight." After saying goodnight to each other, they two stood there without leaving immediately.
The two of them stood face to face, like a couple just starting to fall in love. They were reluctant to part ways and looked at each other for a long time. Finally, Zane couldn't bear the thought of Yanis being cold without a jacket, so he walked her directly to her doorstep.
"Go rest now. I'll go back," Zane said.
"Okay," Yanis replied.
Yanis watched as Zane's car drove away before closing the door and heading upstairs. The room wasn't very big, but she could still smell the faint scent of medicine from when she had helped Zane apply it earlier.
Standing in front of the bedroom door for a moment, Yanis finally snapped out of her daze and grabbed some clothes before heading into the bathroom.
...
The next day in Manches City was even warmer than before; spring had truly arrived. Yesterday they needed jackets, but today only thin clothing was necessary when going outside.
