Chapter 676: Did I Do Something Wrong?

Kellan frowned, "If you want to come back, it's up to you." With that, Kellan hung up the phone.
Before this, Kellan thought Anna was attractive in every way and fit his aesthetic taste. But after witnessing Anna's craziness firsthand, Kellan realized he couldn't control a woman like her. How many Annas were there in Manches City anyway? Plus, he regretted getting involved with Zane and Anna on impulse.
Now he had no interest in flirting with Anna anymore. Just as Kellan hung up the phone not long ago, it rang again from the same number as before. He looked at the screen for a moment before answering reluctantly.
"I made myself clear earlier - you chose to leave on your own accord," said Kellan once connected. "Since you've chosen to run away like a coward instead of facing consequences for stabbing someone - attempted murder or not - if you come back now neither The Duncan Family nor The Lawrence Family will let you off easily. You better think about that carefully!"
Kellan didn't give Anna a chance to speak; he cut her off mid-sentence and blocked any potential escape route she might have considered taking by warning her of what awaited if she returned home.
Anna hesitated for several seconds before speaking in a softer tone than before: "Kellan... I don't want to live this kind of life without stability... You promised me..."
"Miss Johnson," interrupted Kellen sternly without letting her finish talking further. "You made your decision when you stabbed someone; I've done everything I can do help already! For your sake alone I've created two enemies! Now even though I helped arrange for police protection so they won't catch up with you anytime soon... What else do YOU want from ME?"
Kellen spoke coldly: "Either keep running and stay out of Manches City temporarily or return now so that police can escort YOU back here themselves! But either way after this is over between us."
Anna always thought that because she gave him some sweet moments occasionally meant that Kellen would do anything for her but now realized how wrong she was all along.
In reality all he wanted was just sex.
Even if there had been some genuine interest between them previously it wasn't present anymoreKellan admitted to himself that he wasn't a good person, so he didn't want to help her anymore.
After the phone was hung up again, Anna didn't dare call back.
Because Anna knew that rich second generations like Kellan would use all their wits to win your heart when they wanted to, but if they really didn't want anything to do with you anymore, they would kick you away and even turn their backs on you mercilessly.
So Anna had self-awareness and didn't dare make a third call.

Kellan gave Harley a cold look. "If you don't speak up yourself then I won't consider you as someone who can talk."
Harley remained silent while lighting his cigarette. "You said everything already."
Kellan snorted lightly without saying another word.

After hanging up the strange phone call just now, Yanis couldn't get those photos out of her head no matter how hard she tried not to think about them. They piled together crazily in her mind whenever Yanis tried not thinking about them. Then suddenly, the doorbell rang, pulling Yanis' thoughts back slightly. She glanced towards the door before getting up to open it. She thought Stella forgot something so Yanis opened the door without looking outside. But when Yanis saw Zane standing at the door, she was slightly stunned,"You... how did you come here?"
Zane stood at the doorway facing Yanis,"To take you home."
Yanis whispered,"Didn't I tell you that I'm staying at Stella's place tonight?"
Zane said nothing; he just looked at her like this,"Yanis, did I do something wrong?" When hearing Zane's question, Yanis really didn't know how to answer it for a moment. The two of them stood at the door, facing each other.
They stood there for a while until Yanis stepped aside and said, "You go in first."
Zane didn't hesitate to step into the house.
Yanis closed the door and sat down on the sofa in the living room. "Stella has gone out for something. She'll be back soon. You can leave after a while."
Yanis had no intention of going back with Zane because she wanted to calm down a bit.
"Yanis, if there's anything you need to talk about, we can solve it together. It makes me nervous when you act like this," Zane said after hearing her silence.
Yanis glanced at him but decided not to say anything because discussing their private matters in someone else's home was inappropriate.
After thinking for a moment, Yanis took out her phone and sent Stella a message saying that she had something urgent come up and would be leaving tonight.
Stella replied quickly asking how she would get home.
Yanis said someone would pick her up.
Stella sent over an audio message: [Okay then, just lock up when you leave. I have my key with me but I might be late getting back.]
Yanis replied with an okay before putting away her phone and grabbing some things. "Let's go," she said to Zane.
Zane saw that Yanis was willing to go back with him so he got up from his seat and took what Yanis was carrying from her hands. "Let me help you," he offered.
Without any objection from Yanis, he carried it as they walked out of the door together.
When they got downstairs by the car, Albi was standing beside it looking at his phone.
Hearing them approach Albi looked up briefly before pocketing his phone again saying "Mr. Lawrence, Mrs. Lawrence."
Yannis nodded towards Albi before getting straight into the car without any further words exchanged between them.
Zane intended on following behind Yannis but as soon as she entered he found himself left outside staring at closed doors wondering what happened next.
"Mr. Lawrence," Albi called softly trying not startle him too much which worked seeing how focused Zane seemed on figuring things out."Yes?"
Albi handed over his mobile device which contained messages from Kellan regarding Samuel Marsh's activities recently discovered by their team. Zanes expression twisted slightly upon reading through everything before tossing it back towards Albi "Have someone dig deeper into Samuel Marsh."
Alibi nodded understandingly "Understood."
"Let's head back to D-King Castle first though," Zanes voice held authority even though he didn't elaborate further than that statement alone . Zane spoke and then turned around, walking to the side where he opened the car door and sat inside.
