The message was from Ivan: [Mila, sorry.]
A simple sentence, nothing more.
Mila's mind was completely relieved upon seeing Ivan's concise apology.
Ivan didn't like her before, doesn't like her now, and there won't be any possibility in the future either.
Mila stared at the message for a long time before setting her phone aside.
...
It was three days later when Yanis found out that Ivan had left Manches City.
Anika was discharged from the hospital but was then taken to South Hospital.
Just as Yanis and Zane left South Hospital, Bonnie called.
Over the phone, Bonnie informed Yanis about Ivan's situation.
After hearing it all, Yanis learned that Ivan had left Manches City on that day and hadn't been in contact with the Baxter family all these years.
Madison had called Bonnie to ask about Ivan's whereabouts. Bonnie was somewhat shocked when she received Madison's call because they hadn't been in contact much since their last unpleasant encounter.
"Didn't Aunt Baxter say anything else?" Yanis asked softly.
Bonnie responded, "No, she just asked if I had seen Ivan, if I knew where he went. I said no, and then she didn't say anything else and hung up."
With that said, Bonnie paused. "By the way, did she come to the hospital to find you?"
Yanis nodded, "But Zane was there that day, so she didn't say anything inappropriate. Zane warned her."
Bonnie sighed, "Who would have thought such a gentle woman could turn out to be so twisted? I'm curious how Ivan managed all these years."
"Ivan never mentioned these things before, probably because he didn't want people around him to know about them."
"That's true. After all, family matters shouldn't be made public." Bonnie paused and continued, "In that case, I think the reason Ivan went abroad back then wasn't just because you married Zane, but also because of Aunt Baxter."
"Did Ivan call you?" Yanis asked softly.
"No, but I saw a side profile of Ivan in Mr. Walsh's social media posts. He looks noticeably thinner," Bonnie replied.
