I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin) novel Chapter 55

Chapter 55 Was He Crazy?

He knew his wound would dehiscence, but he did it anyway.

Was he crazy?

She had been feeling anxious since she found out about his car accident in the early hours of yesterday morning. She had hoped to be left alone to take her time and calm down, but unfortunately, he had been constantly pressing her to have a complete breakdown.

At this moment, she was in a bad mood and her eyes were red.

Benjamin also noticed her change and wanted to say something, but Harper had already turned around and walked towards the door.

"I'll go get the nurse." She just said this, then opened the ward door and went out.

Soon, the nurse came in to check Benjamin's wound, rebandaged it, and specifically instructed, "Mr. Martin's wound cannot be dehisced again. Otherwise, it would injure his bone, and he will have to undergo surgery again."

"Okay, I know." Harper stood some distance away from him and responded calmly.

After the nurse left, she did not continue to wipe his body. She just took the water to the bathroom to pour it out. Then she washed the towel and hung it up.

The ward became quiet and silent at this point.

Benjamin kept watching her. She walked to sit on the sofa aside and ignored him.

He spoke warmly, "Harper?"

She didn't speak.

He said again, "I'm thirsty, can you pour me a glass of water?"

"No. Just drink it when the nurse applies the medicine on you, so that you don't dehisce the wound again." Her tone was calm, without any intention of discussion.

Benjamin still sizing her up.

In his memory, Harper didn't seem to be angry very often. Even if she was, he could coax her with a few words. As long as he was willing to soften his attitude, he could coax her.

So she hardly ever lost her temper.

She should be angry this time, right?

Benjamin stopped talking, and it took a long time. The sky outside was getting dark. Lauren and Larry hadn't come back yet, and neither had Curtis.

Was she going to stay tonight?

She hadn't eaten dinner yet, and her stomach was already growling.

The atmosphere in the ward was too quiet, so Benjamin could hear it clearly.

Harper awkwardly lowered her head.

She frowned and was at a loss.

Benjamin said softly, "Haven't you eaten yet?"

She didn't say anything.

He asked again, "Are you hungry?"

"I'm not." She said stubbornly.

"I heard it."

What did he hear?

The stomach growling?

"You heard wrong." She insisted at the end.

Benjamin's expression was kind, smiling, but said lightly, "Okay, I heard wrong. I'm not full yet. I'll ask Curtis to bring some food over. Will you accompany me to eat some together?"

She said nothing.
