I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin) novel Chapter 90

Chapter 90 He Acted Like a Child

Harper didn't understand why he had recently been so fond of arguing with Frank like a child.

However, she never answered this question. She just said, "It's getting late, go eat, I still have things to do later, so shall we hang up?"

Benjamin didn't know if he was unhappy, but he didn't say anything and ended the call first.

After returning to the sofa, Frank had already set aside the tableware and was waiting for her. After she sat down, he picked up a piece of chicken for her. Harper asked, "Why aren't you eating?"

"I'm waiting for you."

Harper was momentarily stunned by reflex, then Frank didn't speak anymore.

His deep eyes looked at Harper with tenderness. Whenever he always wanted to wait a little longer for her, even though he knew it might not lead to anything, he still stubbornly wanted to wait.

After dinner, Harper reviewed the drawings and documents again and then asked Sophia to send them to Charlie.

She didn't need to go to the construction site today, so she stayed at the company to review other projects and the company's quarterly profits with Frank.

Although the company was small, she and Frank had a clear division of labor, with Frank handling operations and diplomacy without giving her any worries. This kind of work made her feel genuinely relaxed and less tired.

As work was wrapping up, Frank brought up, "The Mitchell Group has a bidding project next month, which happens to be our company's specialty. Should we go for it?"

Harper frowned slightly, then looked through the bidding project conditions and content that he handed over, and then said, "Let me think about it. Do you have any suggestions?"

"We can do it. It's right in our wheelhouse, although our company is small, we still have advantages in our specialties."

"Hmm, I understand what you mean."

Harper hesitated a bit; she wasn't very keen on having too much contact with the Mitchell family, even if it was work-related.

Frank understood her silence and said, "If you're not willing, we don't have to do it. But if the Mitchell Group can't find a suitable partner, they should come to us proactively, especially since you're now involved in the Martin project. That's a good advertisement. So, Harper, you need to be mentally prepared."

Harper nodded. Working for the Mitchell Group wasn't a big deal; it could be seen as a normal partnership. But after those incidents, her mindset slowly changed. She didn't want to do thankless tasks, let alone be controlled.

So, Harper needed to think carefully because once she agreed, she would be in frequent contact with the Mitchell family until the project ended.

At six o'clock in the afternoon, Harper left the company.

She and Frank took the elevator to the parking lot. She checked the time several times during the ride. Frank asked, "Harper, do you have plans? You seem quite in a hurry."

"Yes, a friend is coming to Mayby, and we're going to have dinner together later."

"A friend? Someone I know?"

"Isaac."

"Ah, it's him. What's he doing in Mayby?"

Frank had met Isaac before, but it was just a casual meeting. Although both were Harper's friends, Isaac didn't have much interaction with Frank, just acknowledging each other.

"He has some work-related matters..."

Before Harper finished her sentence, Isaac's message came. [I'm downstairs at your company. If you don't come down, I'll come up.]

Harper smiled and replied: [I'll be right there, give me two minutes.]

She put away her phone and heard Frank ask, "Are you still close with Isaac?"

"Yes, we've always been close. He helped me a lot during my studies. Although he's older than me, we get along well. He can be childish sometimes, but he taught me a lot of things that I still find useful."

Isaac was over ten years older than Harper. They met during Isaac's peak popularity, and their bond had remained strong. Some people were like that; even with rare contact, their connection never faded.
