Chapter 91 Close Friends
Isaac smiled slightly and said, "She is Harper, my relatively close friend. She is currently working in Mayby. I hope Mr. Martin will take care of her in the future."
"Close friend?"
Benjamin repeated these words in an accentuated tone.
Lauren also turned pale and glanced at Harper.
Isaac nodded and responded straightforwardly, "Yes."
Harper pretended not to know him and said hello with a smile, "Hello, Mr. Martin."
"Hello, Ms. Mitchell."
His voice was low, and he gazed at her with a meaningful look, and then he looked away.
But Harper felt that he was furious.
The waiter brought the dishes at that moment, and then the four of them began to eat. During this period, Benjamin and Isaac chatted. From their conversation, Harper learned that they had met many years ago. Benjamin's teacher in college had been a very close classmate to Isaac until now, so they met each other today.
While Benjamin was chatting with Isaac, Lauren took the initiative to serve soup for Benjamin, showing the intimacy. After seizing the opportunity, she looked at Isaac with a smile and asked, "Mr. Whitman, it's really an honor to meet you. It's quite a fate that we two are in the same industry."
Isaac nodded politely, not asking any questions.
Lauren was a little stiff by then and then took the initiative to say, "Mr. Whitman, Benjamin specially asked you to come to Mayby this time, hoping that you can help me write lyrics and compose music for my new song. I know that you haven't taken the tasks anymore, but I won't trouble you; only this time."
Lauren deliberately used Benjamin's name in order to show that her relationship with Benjamin was unusual. And Isaac would help her for Benjamin's sake.
Isaac picked up the cup and took a sip, with a gentle smile on his face.
He waited for Lauren to finish speaking, then looked at Benjamin and asked in a low voice, "Mr. Martin, is this also what you want me to do?"
"I am just an introducer. If you think that she is suitable, you can give her a chance."
Benjamin leaned on the chair and looked at Isaac calmly.
Lauren said quickly, "Mr. Whitman, I really hope to have the opportunity to cooperate with you. You can also listen to my previous songs. I think it will not let you down."
"Ms. Davis, I'm sorry that I can't help you. I have already retired and have never thought about accepting the tasks, so I can't help you."
"Why? It's a waste of your talent that you keep retiring. Your fans want you to come back. If you don't want to, just compose music and write lyrics. You can choose not to sign your name in the song, so no one will know that you've been involved in making this song."
Lauren was very excited. It was not easy to meet Isaac. Of course, she was not willing to let go of such a good opportunity.
However, her words made Isaac laugh. "Ms. Davis, this is not a matter of signature or not. Once I actually participate in composing music and lyrics, do you believe that my fans and the public won't know?"
Isaac had his own style of making a song, which could not be changed by anyone.
Lauren was silent. She looked at Benjamin anxiously and said, "Benjamin..."
"Mr. Whitman, do you really no longer think about it?"
"Mr. Martin, I came to Mayby this time because I owe a favor to my friend, so I came here to meet you. Apart from the fact that I still owe Harper a song, I have no plan to write a song for the others."
Isaac was a straightforward person. He had never been controlled by anyone, let alone forced to do things he didn't like. Unless he was willing, no one could force him.
Because of his special personality, he was like a myth in the industry.
