They said, "We can let you keep your child as long as you let us have a good time with you."
Alva broke down on the spot. She was in extreme grief, yet there were no tears. She had never been in so much despair.
She was afraid that what had happened that day would be exposed, and she would become the laughingstock of everyone in Kenison City and get despised and looked down on by everyone for the rest of her life.
Tears fell from the corners of Alva's eyes uncontrollably.
With a nervous heart, she called Colbert.
Beep, beep...
The phone rang a few times, and Colbert, who was sitting in the study smoking a cigarette, glanced at the phone on the table. Alva's name was brightly displayed on the screen.
His handsome and innocent face darkened a little. He swiped his thumb across the screen and answered the phone.
"What's wrong?" Colbert asked.
What a blunt and cold attitude.
Alva's heart suddenly sank to the bottom.
"Colbert, are you ready?" Alva asked softly with tears in her eyes.
Colbert took a puff of his cigarette and flicked the ash toward the ashtray with his slender fingers. "Pretty much."
"That's fast. We're getting married soon. I-I'm a little nervous."
The truth was, she was not nervous but apprehensive.
