Chapter 1203
When Cornelia wanted to argue with Marcus, he said he wanted to hit the hay. This made her feel as if her anger was like punching cotton, with no sound at all. Cornelia really wanted to keep talking to Marcus, but seeing how tired he looked, she couldn't bear to disturb his sleep.
"Alright, off you go to sleep.’ Cornelia said. She thought to herself, she would have a proper talk with him tomorrow morning.
Marcus went off to sleep, while Cornelia headed to the bathroom.
After freshening up, she found Marcus already fast asleep. He was out like a light, showing that he was really knackered.
"You annoying man, leaving me fuming, yet you're sleeping like a baby.’ Cornelia murmured.
She climbed into bed, lying next to Marcus, and rolled over into his arms.
She held him around his waist, leaned against his chest, and listening to his steady heartbeat. All her grievances and unease disappeared in this moment. She nuzzled his chest and whined, "Jeremy, you didn't even spare me a glance when you got home today. Do you know how awful that makes me feel?"
She moved up a bit, lying flat and staring at his handsome features.
She couldn't help but reach out to gently stroke them. She traced his eyebrows and lips, whispering, "I'm dying inside, yet I have to act like nothing's wrong, even making you drinks. What pisses me off even more is that you ignored me even when I brought you a drink. You have no idea how much I wanted to bite you then. Jeremy, let me tell you, I hold grudges. If you dare to treat me this coldly again, I'll give you a taste of your own medicine"
Cornelia rambled on for a while until sleepiness overwhelmed her; she then fell asleep on Marcus’ chest.
Just as she fell asleep, the man who was previously sound asleep slowly opened his eyes. His gaze lingered on her face, unable to look away. He murmured, "I know."
Last night before bed, Cornelia had wanted to get up early to have a good talk with Marcus. But when she woke up, she found that the man beside her was already gone. Cornelia hurried off the bed, didn't even bother with her shoes and ran out of the room, heading for the dining room.
