Chapter 987
Marcus hardly had any gal pals, and it was a blue moon when Cornelia catched him singing praises about other women. But here he was, all starry-eyed about Sallie.
At that moment, Cornelia was green with envy. She felt like a monster, getting all jealous so easily.
When she suggested Marcus should marry another woman, he was first ticked off. But once he got her drift, he broke into a chuckle,
"Are you jelly?"
"Yes, I'm jealous. I'm your wife and you're complimenting other women right in front of me, saying they’re smart, beautiful, and wise. Can't I get jealous?” Cornelia shot back.
Cornelia, all envious and stuff, looked so cute that it made him want to nibble on her. Marcus felt the same, so he gently bit her, "I just said she was clever, didn't say she was a looker. In my books, the only stunner is you."
Cornelia said, “Don't think you can fool me with that!"
Even though she said this, she was over the moon on the inside.
Marcus went on to explain, "I praised her smarts because she first got close to my friends, then me. Even after I blew her off, she didn't stick around. Cornelia, I only have you."
Cornelia said, “I got it.”
As they chatted, they reached the new pad Marcus bought.
This was Cornelia's first time here, and she was gobsmacked as soon as she stepped in. If it weren't for the different floor plan, just by looking at the interior design, it was almost a spitting image of her own house. Even the wall paintings were identical.
"Why'd you style this place like this, when you don't even dig this kind of design?" Cornelia already had a hunch, but she wanted to hear it from the horse's mouth.
And sure enough, Marcus gave her the answer she was expecting,
The night was hazy, their romantic and sexual interaction was like a scene from a movie. Afterwards, Marcus got up and went to the bathroom. Soon, Cornelia heard the sound of water running.
She was so pooped that she could barely keep her eyes open, but she remembered her wish to have a baby. So, she quickly grabbed a pillow, propped it under her waist, stretched her legs towards the head of the bed, and half-lay on the bed.
When Marcus came out with a warm, damp towel and saw her in this position, he asked, "Cornelia, are you feeling off?"
With her eyes closed, Cornelia weakly replied, "I'm fine, I've just heard this posture can increase the chances of getting pregnant.’
There were some things Marcus didn't want to say, but seeing how badly she wanted a baby, he had to, "Cornelia, your grandma's gone.
Even if you have a baby now, she won't be able to meet them.’
Hearing about her grandma, Cornelia's eyes turned red, "I know, I know my grandma's gone and she can't meet the baby. But your grandma is still around, and she’s been waiting for this baby, so I want to have one. My grandma left this world with regrets, and I don't want your grandma to have the same regrets.”
