Ryan knew his request was unreasonable, but between Darya and Regina, the latter was more important.

Micah watched them leave and didn’t try to stop them.

Regina’s face, already pale, went a shade whiter.

The ambulance soon arrived.

Micah gave way and watched a doctor assess Regina’s injuries.

He gave her something to stop the bleeding, then cleaned the wounds and dressed them.

‘She doesn’t have to go to the emergency room,‘ the doctor said. ‘She’s going to be fine.

‘But what about all the blood she lost?‘ Ryan asked.

The grass underneath Regina was stained red.

‘It looks worse than it is,‘ the doctor explained. ‘Her injuries are superficial. No broken bones, no fractures or

burst blood vessels. Just some torn capillaries. I’ve given her some ointment to apply. You can bring her back to

the hospital in a couple of days for a check–up if you are still worried. But I think she’s going to be fine.”

The doctor packed up his medical kit and left after giving Micah his contact information. I’ll send you the bill
