Chapter 62 Too Little, Too
Late
Darya had a placid smile on her face, her emotions unreadable.
Felicia carried on her drunken, slurred speech. ‘You cooked for us, washed our clothes, cleaned the house. Gh, wait, let’s see what else you did. Oh, right, you made our beds, dusted the furniture. You even cleaned my
toilet! Washed Mum’s car. Mowed the lawn for Dad. Picked up after us.‘
She laughed like a maniac. ‘You rubbed Mum’s feet once! I saw that! You were like a dog begging for any scrap
of attention from the owner. I wish I’d recorded it.‘
Imogen inched away from Darya.
Her cheeks were bleeding, but she was no longer concerned about the pain.
Darya was her boss.
Could she still keep her job after overhearing her boss’s humiliating past?
Should she report what happened tonight to President Avery?
While Imogen silently debated on what she should do, Felicia was still talking.
‘Remember that time you had to clean the house after a party? That look on your face when you found the kitchen sink filled with dirty dishes and the bins overflowing with rubbish, tsk–tsk. I thought you were about to
cry, haha!‘
Her face turned vicious. ‘But I’m not going to pay you a hundred million dollars for that. Your work as a domestic servant is worthless!‘
Fumbling in her purse, Felicia found a single dollar note.
She balled it up and tossed it at Darya. ‘Here! That’s how much you are worth!‘
The dollar note landed at Darya’s feet.
Darya didn’t look at it.
Her gaze was fixed on a tall man pushing through the crowd of onlookers.
He had a face like thunder.
Felicia yelped in pain as the man seized her arm in a vice–like grip.
His voice thundered next to her ear. ‘What you just said, is it true?‘
‘Let go of me! Who the fuck are- Felicia’s hand, raised for a slap, froze mid–air once she recognised the

newcomer ‘Micah, L…
What you just said, about her, about what you made her do, all of it, is it true? Micah’s voice was dangerously low.
Felicia recognised it as a sign of his extreme rage and swallowed hard.
What was her brother doing here?
She had briefly considered calling him when she ran out of money, but pride prevented her from doing that.
Micah gripped her shoulders with both hands and stared into her bloodshot eyes. ‘Tell me!‘
‘I… Felicia groped for a response.
Darya Miller’s life at the Cavanaugh residence was an open secret.
Felicia and her mother gave the order to the rest of the domestic employees to keep their mouths shut, mostly to protect the reputation of their family name.
Morton Cavanaugh, as the patriarch, turned a blind eye–Darya wasn’t the kind of wife he’d envisioned for his
son.
Micah spent most of his time away from the house in Hyacinth Park and was kept in the dark.
When an acquaintance called him earlier and told him that Felicia was in trouble, he was ambivalent about coming to The Myriad.
He had picked up after his sister numerous times.
It was exhausting.
Felicia was an adult now.
Time for her to be held accountable for her own behaviour.
But thinking of their mother’s tears, Micah decided to make the trip after all.
He was pleasantly surprised when he spotted Darya, but his heart sank when he heard what Felicia was
shouting.
‘So what if it’s true?‘ Felicia shrugged nonchalantly. ‘Mum, Dad and I never acknowledged her as your wife. She’s nothing but another servant to us.‘
Felicia was certain Micah had no feelings for Darya at all.
Wasn’t that why he stayed away from the family residence for the past three years?
But looking at her brother now, she was suddenly not so sure.
‘Let go of me!‘ she complained. ‘You are hurting me.‘
Micah clenched his jaw.
His sister just admitted, in public, that she had abused Darya, his ex–wife.
His mother and father were probably in on it, too.

Chapter 62 Too Little, Too Late
Micah didn’t know what he was supposed to feel
Guilty?
Yes.
His family took their cues from him.
If he hadn’t made his dislike for Darya so obvious, they would not have dared treat her that way.
But coming right on the heels of guilt was a rising sense of panic.
What was Darya thinking when she suffered at the hands of his family?
Would she think he ordered them to do that to her?
Would she hold him responsible?
More importantly, would she ever forgive him?
Micah didn’t know if what he felt towards Darya was love.
But he couldn’t deny that he was inexplicably drawn to her.
Not to the Darya Miller who coerced him into marriage three years ago.
But to the new Darya Miller who, after the divorce, seemed to surprise him every time they met.
