"You don’t have enough homework, do you?"

Joseph was used to Jasper's strange way of thinking. He did not give much of a reply before asking some people to come in.

Jasper pouted and muttered reluctantly, "Chloe’s willing to meet me instead of you. You shouldn’t doubt my power."

These words hit Joseph in the gut. He massaged his temples and decided not to be mad at Jasper.

When Chloe was back at the Sullivan manor, Noah went up to her with a solemn expression. "We got a call from the prison."

Chloe was a little dumbfounded. "The prison?"

"Yes, the prison where Benjamin is locked up."

"Oh. What's the matter?"

Benjamin had disappointed her greatly five years ago. Chloe would have forgotten that she still had a father if his name was not brought up.

"He has cancer and only has another month to live." Noah was worried that she might be upset and almost could not bear to say this to her. "He wants to see you one last time."

Chloe was stunned for a moment. "I don't want to see him."

What was the use? Did he want to express his regret and apologize? She found it unnecessary and meaningless.

"The prison staff told me that he has something important to tell you."

"Fine, I understand." Benjamin rubbed his hands together and heaved a long sigh. "It wasn't because of Karen that I fell out with your mother."

"So, you asked me to come just so you could prove Karen's innocence?"

"No, listen to me. When your mother and I decided to elope, we went home to pack our belongings. When we met up, I found her at a hotel. I noticed something was amiss."

Chloe felt that there was an underlying meaning to his words. "Go on."

"Someone had taken liberties with her. I never showed you love because you're not my child."
