Xavia was dressed in a pastel pink jacket paired with white knee-high boots. Her face mask concealed most of her features. Only her exquisite and mysterious eyes that enticed curiosity could be seen.
Kenneth felt a surge of concern for her and remarked, "Your eyelashes are frosted over. Cover yourself up more next time."
"It’s all right, I'm fine. We were in the car the whole time, and I'm wearing a down jacket. It's not that cold.”
“Okay, next time I'll stop the car closer so that you don't have to walk so far.”
Xavia started tearing up as she looked at him. Kenneth panicked and quickly handed her a tissue.
"What's wrong? Did I say something wrong?"
"No one has ever treated me this kindly. You're the first.”
Kenneth paused for a moment, then responded with overwhelming tenderness, "I'll always treat you this way, Vee."
"Really?"
"Of course, I promise.”
Xavia blushed and gently linked her arm with his, saying, "Let's eat."
"Sure," Kenneth smiled, nodding as they followed the waiter to the table next to Chloe's.
Xavia did not notice Chloe at first, but as she put down her bag, their eyes met.
Chloe greeted her with a mischievous grin and said, "Hi."
Xavia’s eyes widened, and her gentle voice turned sharp as she squeaked, "Why are you here? Are you following me?"
"I'm not. Who has time for that?"
"Nonsense. You must have planned this."
