There were surveillance cameras in Vanya’s room, so she could only ask Vanya questions once she was out of there.
It had been three days since Chloe had stood Joseph up. Since then, she and Noah had gone to the bridal shop to finalize the wedding dress. She offered no opinions on other wedding matters. According to the scheduled date, the wedding would take place on May 6th, and today was April 20th.
In other words, she had another 16 days.
Chloe was running out of time, and the unknown loomed over her like a guillotine. She did not know when the blade would fall, and she was uncertain if the person beside her was with or against her. Anxiety and bewilderment merged into a tidal wave, pushing her toward the brink. To get everything ready and make sure that Noah would not be suspicious, she had not gone to work.
Zoelle shrugged indifferently and said, "If you like. My job is just to watch over the patient."
"Could you help me tell the helpers that I'm going to change my clothes first?" Chloe smiled and tugged at her clothes which were damp from watering the plants.
"Sure," Zoelle replied without any hesitation.
Suppressing her excitement, Chloe hurried off to her bedroom.
"Wait," Zoelle called out to her, causing a chill to run down Chloe's spine.
After a few moments of pause, Chloe turned around and looked at Zoelle calmly. "Yeah?"
"Do you know who Joseph's ex-wife is?" Zoelle asked, her lips curving into a playful smile. "Who’s more beautiful? Me or her?”
Chloe was slightly taken aback. She had not expected Zoelle to ask such a question but still said sincerely, "You're more beautiful."
Nodding in satisfaction, Zoelle hummed a tune as she went to do as Chloe requested.
Seeing the helper bring a wheelchair to the third floor to bring Vanya down, Chloe steeled her resolve and went to change her clothes as quickly as possible. When she came back, Zoelle had already left.
Meeting Vanya's gaze, Chloe took the wheelchair from the helper and said, "I’ll do it."
Chloe had made up her mind. She could not betray Joseph. Regardless of what had transpired between them, the Whitmans were innocent. Joseph's mother had never harmed her and Harold treated her with sincerity. Her conscience would not allow her to do such a thing.
Vanya's face turned red from the suffocation and her breathing became increasingly labored. Realizing that Chloe was being serious, she said laboriously, "And how are you going to explain my death to Noah?”
Chloe's grip tightened. A triumphant smile appeared on her face as she replied, "I’m not worried. Noah won't turn against me because of you. Perhaps he also hopes for your death."
Vanya was stunned. "Let me go… I'll tell you everything…"
"Is my child still alive?"
"Yes…"
Suppressing her excitement, Chloe asked, "Where is my child?"
