Chloe scrolled through Eustace's profile. She did not learn much about him, and the only thing suspicious was his daughter's appearance. Following what Vanya had said, she believed that this little girl was likely Xavia and Eustace's daughter. And judging by the photos, the girl was about six at most.
Xavia had been with Joseph for over five years...
Next, Chloe operated secretly and reduced her interactions with Noah by avoiding going to the office. She made an excuse, saying that she wanted to have a bachelorette party, and had Emily come to the Sullivan estate to take her out for a few days. Chloe reported her daily schedule to Noah. But after three days, she figured that Noah would drop his suspicions.
After she and Emily had lunch, they headed to Eustace's house. The residential area had strict security and they needed an access card to enter. Emily and Chloe staked out in their car for quite a while before finally spotting Eustace coming out with his daughter to buy snacks.
"I'll go down and snap a photo for you," Emily said.
"Put these on.” Chloe handed Emily a cap and sunglasses.
Eustace had been seen around Noah only a handful of times, but he still might recognize them.
Emily nodded. She got out of the car and found a hiding spot. While Eustace was choosing snacks for his daughter, she quickly took a few photos with her phone. She returned to the car excitedly and said to Chloe, "That little girl really does resemble Xavia. She looks innocent and pure, but she does seem a little slow."
Chloe quickly examined the photos Emily had taken. The child did not look as bright as a normal child. Instead, her expression was unfocused as she nibbled on her finger.
She hesitated for a moment before saying, "The girl seems a little off…"
Emily nodded. "I think so too. Let's go ask Eustace directly and see what he has got to say."
"No, we can't do that. If we confront him now, it'll alert Noah."
Considering Vanya's rate of recovery, she needed to wait for a few more days before taking any action.
"Are we just going to give up on this lead then?"
