"Zander, I've prepared your tuxedo for the wedding. Please be ready on time; otherwise, Blair will be very upset," I whispered to my mate and husband as he covered the speaker with his hand during a phone call.
Today marked Blair and Maddox's wedding, followed by their official mating and marking ceremony. We couldn't manage a formal wedding earlier because so much was going on in our lives and pack, but now everything was settled, and I had planned a lavish week-long celebration for them. Today was their special day, and yet my husband, the Alpha King, was still engrossed in business. I waited, staring at him with annoyance, hoping for a response. Finally, Zander nodded absentmindedly, still engrossed in his call.
"I understand, King Ralph Yearwood, but we shouldn't lower our guard like this before him," Zander sounded annoyed.
I couldn't hear their conversation, but from my husband's expression, it was clear that Lycan King Ralph Yearwood had said something unsettling.
"Okay. Let me think," Zander replied, his tone serious as he listened intently to the other end of the call.
"I will. Yes, very soon," he affirmed decisively before ending the conversation.
"What happened?" I asked, moving to rub his tense shoulders from behind.
Zander relaxed under my touch, turning to envelop me in his arms, lowering his head to my neck to inhale deeply. I felt the tension leaving his stiff body.
"The Dark Alpha and his pack," he began, speaking of the mysterious figure who always remained concealed in darkness, his pack members wearing masks to hide their identities. No one had ever seen him or knew his name. "They seem to have gone quiet recently, which is highly suspicious. We've been tracking their movements closely, but suddenly, all leads vanished into thin air."
"What does it mean?" I inquired urgently.
"It means he might be planning something very dangerous. There's no other reason for him to remain calm for this long. He's ruthless and power-hungry; he won't just change his ways and disappear," Zander explained, his words carrying a chilling weight.
I gasped in shock at the revelation, instinct kicking in.
"Do you think it's a threat to our pack?" I asked, my voice betraying concern. Zander lowered his head, meeting my gaze with seriousness.
"Not just our pack, my Luna, but I fear for the entire shifter community," Zander declared, his tone cold with certainty.
"Zander, don't worry. He can't harm anyone, and I'll make sure of it," I said firmly, looking at him with determination.
"I know, my Luna," Zander smiled, his eyes reflecting love and pride as he looked at me. "With you by my side, I can face any threat and emerge victorious. Together, we are invincible," he added, softly pecking my lips.
I smiled, my heart swelling with pride for my mate. Zander was everything to me— World’s best mate a she-wolf could ever have in her life. My love. My Life. Everything. Words couldn't describe how much I loved him.
Sighing contentedly, I rested my head on his broad chest. I felt his arms tighten around me as he let out a deep exhale.
"Okay, get ready soon if you don't want your beloved sister to be upset," I teased, lifting my head to smile at him. He leaned down, his lips brushing mine before we shared a passionate kiss.
He then lifted me into his arms, carrying me towards the bed. As he kissed me, I tried to break away, realizing his intentions.
"Zander, the guests will be here soon," I moaned as he tugged my lips between his teeth.
"Let them wait," he groaned, his eyes devouring me as he untied the knot behind my neck and peeled off my dress from my shoulders, discarding it carelessly.
There went my dress for the bridesmaid role. Next would be my makeup and hair, and I couldn't afford to look anything less than what Blair expected from her bridesmaid on her big day. But my alpha mate had other plans.
"Blair will be upset if we're late. It's her big day," I protested weakly as his mouth found my soft, swollen nipple. My fingers tangled in his hair, my body arching involuntarily off the mattress, craving more of his touch.
"I am the alpha, and my word goes. The ceremony will start when we arrive. But I won't let go of my Luna," he declared huskily, his eyes locked with mine, filled with hunger and lust.
"That's very rude of my alpha!" I whined, but he seemed to care less.
“Austin will be searching for us,” I managed to say between ragged breaths as his fingers found my throbbing clit.
