Chapter 137 Gift
Joseph’s face twitched when struck with the truth.
Maggie snickered softly. “Does it matter if it happened once or a few times? Either way, it won’t be you.”
Joseph’s expression flickered weirdly. Maggie didn’t bother with more talk, just strutted away without a second glance, her heels clicking.
Joseph stood there, getting more and more worked up.
Ever since the day the Camerons tried to please Nathael by using her, he knew this was coming. But weirdly, when he first found out, he just felt a bit off. He figured sacrificing her for the family’s sake wasn’t a big deal.
But as time passed, that feeling grew stronger, like a lump in his throat, and he couldn’t help but feel pissed.
After Maggie left, Vanessa caught sight of her leaving too.
“Maggie!” Vanessa’s face turned pale, clearly shaken by Joseph’s words just now.
Maggie smiled, looking at her with a mix of pity and sarcasm. “Heard it all, huh? He said he loves me, not
You mean nothing to him.”
you.
Vanessa felt the gaze was particularly piercing, making her uncomfortably speechless.
I’m not with him for money. I genuinely want to be with him.”
Upon hearing this, Maggie couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
She believed Vanessa might as well confess she was in it for the money, showing such naivery and foolishness!
“Before you utter those words, you might want to remove the necklace around your neck. It could perhaps lend more credibility to your argument.”
Maggie’s gaze was understated as it swept over Vanessa’s body, adorned with elegant jewellery.
Though not exceedingly extravagant or rare, they were surely out of Vanessa’s financial league.
Why play both sides?
As Maggie left, it was already six in the evening.
She skipped Joseph’s ride and hailed a taxi straight to the hotel booked by Nathael.
The journey, which usually took a little over an hour, suddenly felt endless. Despite the city being bathed
in the glow of the setting sun, Maggie couldn’t shake off her nervousness.
A few minutes later, unable to resist, she pulled out her phone to check.

Chapter 137 Gift
Is he so convinced I’ll show up?
Actually, I don’t have to go…
No matter what harsh words or threats he spewed, Maggie always had this strange certainty that he wouldn’t hurt her.
But who knows what he might do?
Maggie couldn’t help but sigh, pulling out a mirror to touch up her makeup.
After a couple of casual touches, she felt it was unnecessary. After all, she needed to shower first.
Maggie closed her eyes, inexplicably recalling his kiss.
At that moment, they suddenly became intimate, with no distance between them, free to explore each other’s secrets.
His fingers were slightly cool, but his embrace was fiery.
She trembled with nervous resistance, yet she couldn’t help but involuntarily sink into a feeling of emptiness.
It wasn’t until the car stopped in front of the hotel that Maggie let out a sigh, annoyed with herself for thinking about all sorts of messy things.
Finding her way to the room, Maggie stood in front of the door, nervously taking out her key card.
Is Nathael already here?
Is he even here at all?
If he is, what is he doing?
Maggie nervously pondered, feeling both uneasy about what was about to happen and strangely excited, like a forbidden affair.
She felt like she was going crazy, but she couldn’t help but want to continue down this path of madness.
Just a little nervous and scared.
The lock emitted a crisp recognition sound, followed by the door opening automatically.
