Chapter 19 I Found Myself In Another Man’s Bed!
“He still refused and said there’s a problem with the Cameron family’s financial situation… Maggie spoke with a tinge of sadness.
Master Cameron and Ronald had a hint of disappointment in their eyes, but they knew Nathael was right. There was indeed an issue with their family’s finances. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be so desperate.
“This Mr. Harris really knows how to manipulate the situation. He tarnished our Maggie without remorse, yet he’s unwilling to show any sincerity. Does he think our family is easy to deal with?” Madam Cameron spoke coldly.
A trace of mockery flashed in Maggie’s eyes. Perhaps this was how the Camerons deceived her in her previous life.
Unfortunately, even if she had doubts back then, she never wanted to think poorly of the Camerons.
She still remembered the day when Ronald and Olivia brought her back from the orphanage.
Life in the orphanage was not easy. Even though the director and teachers tried their best to be fair, there were still inevitable fights over resources. They were always struggling to make ends meet,
When Ronald and Olivia brought her back to the Camerons, they had carefully prepared a room for her. “Maggie, look. This is the room we prepared for you. Do you like it?”
Olivia, dressed in a black dress, knelt beside her and spoke gently.
The room was light pink, a bit gaudy with a princess theme, but it was new and considerate.
At that moment, Maggie thought she could finally have a home. But she didn’t expect that everything was a scheme from the start.
She lowered her eyes to conceal the bitterness in her heart.
Ronald and Olivia must have recognized her true identity early on, so they had malicious intentions. In order to strike at the Adams, they didn’t hesitate to stage this blood feud.
And the ironic thing was, they succeeded in the end.
“That’s right, we must seek justice for Maggie! My dear child was… was…” Olivia’s eyes reddened, and she choked on her words.
Maggie wanted to laugh. She had to admit the Camerons were skilled actors.
Each one of them could easily win an Oscar.
“Maggie, what do you think?” Ronald looked at Maggie and spoke with some hesitation.
After all, Nathael was famous. Countless women wanted to have a relationship with him. He had to guard against Maggie changing her mind.
A glimmer of tears welled up in Maggie’s eyes. She clenched her teeth and said coldly. “Nathael is powerful
In her previous life, she had said the same thing. The only difference was that she was sincere back then, but now she was just playing along.
“Well, you are indeed my daughter. It’s not in vain that I’ve been carefully nurturing you for so many years.”
“Maggie, if we plan to hold a press conference and have you testify against Nathael, would you dare?” Olivia spoke again, her words filled with concern for Maggie.
Maggie answered slowly. “There’s nothing I wouldn’t dare to do. As long as it doesn’t cause him to take his anger on the Camerons, it’s fine.”
The Camerons nodded in relief at her agreement.
Maggie was still the same Maggie. It seemed that what happened last night was just a misunderstanding.
Maggie suppressed her nausea and had dinner at the Camerons‘ house.
After dinner. Joseph stood up and said gently. “I’ll take you home.”
“No need. I can take a taxi home.” Before Maggie could refuse, Olivia said softly, “Let Joseph take you. It’s dark outside, and it’s not safe for a girl to go home alone. We’ve told you to take a car from home, but won’t listen.”
you
Olivia’s words had a hint of reproach. If one didn’t know her true colors, they would certainly find such reproach very caring.
