Chapter 21 The Moon Is Beautiful Tonight.
Maggie paid no attention to Joseph’s thoughts. She would be pleased if he was so angry that he fell ill.
Just a few steps away, her phone suddenly rang.
Nathaelt
Without hesitation, she answered, “Hello, Mr. Harris?”
Nathael’s deep and clear voice came from the phone, “You left something at my place.”
Maggie was not surprised and asked, “Is it my handbag?”
Yes.
“Can I pick it up tomorrow?”
The jade pendant that proved her identity was in the bag, and she had intentionally left it there.
She had always wanted an opportunity to see him again.
“Turn around,” the man’s deep voice sounded. His tone was warmer than before.
Maggie was stunned for a few seconds. Subconsciously, she turned around and saw a black Maybach parked a little distance away from her on the small road in front of the apartment.
The street light cast a faint halo on the car, giving it a beautiful, glossy, luxurious, yet understated appearance.
At this moment, Nathael leaned against the car door and bit a cigarette.
His well–tailored dark suit exuded a deep and restrained elegance. However, his tie was loosely pulled low around his neck, and a few buttons on his shirt/were undone, adding a touch of charming recklessness.
For some reason, at this moment, Maggie thought of a phrase.
When the lights first come on, and people are bustling around, I can always spot you at first glance.
Ignoring everything else, she rushed towards Nathael. Her eyes filled with joy.
“Why are you here?”
She was genuinely happy but couldn’t explain why. It seemed she couldn’t help but feel happy whenever she saw him.
“I’m delivering something.” Nathael extinguished the cigarette in his mouth. A small and exquisite handbag rested in his palm like a piece of artwork.
“Thank you.”
Maggie didn’t know what to say after taking her bag.
She thought she would have to make another trip, so she didn’t expect him to come.
She didn’t know when he had arrived or how much he had seen of her and Joseph. Maggie carefully recalled. When Joseph hadn’t left, he should have been in the car.
She only remembered a car parked not far away but didn’t see anyone else.
As Maggie was lost in thought, the handsome face in front of her suddenly leaned closer, Nathael bent down. His clear and handsome face suddenly magnified several times. His tall figure cast a shadow that enveloped her.
“How will you thank me?”
His beautiful, narrow eyes reflected her image. When he smirked, his breath was warm, and his words. seemed to carry an inexplicable flirtation.
Maggie stared at him blankly. She forgot to breathe for a moment, and her cheeks started to heat up.
How should I thank him?
Offer myself?
If she dared to say that, Nathael would probably think she was crazy.
Yes, Maggie also thought she was crazy.
But at this moment, she inexplicably felt an uncontrollable fondness for him. Yes, she liked him.
Maggie came back to her senses. She couldn’t help but say, “Mr. Harris, you’re too stingy. Even when delivering something, a thank you is required.”
Nathael curled his lips. His dark eyes stared at her while he said firmly, “You broke up with Joseph.”
