Chapter 318 He’s Been a Nuisance for a While
Maggie grinned a little. She knew that, given Ronald’s shrewd nature, he must be seething.
He could accept his son’s jealousy over a spat with a woman and his being less competent than Nathael.
But he absolutely couldn’t accept that his son betrayed his own family.
The idea that he exposed Ronald wanting Maggie to get close to Nathael to take advantage of him and never care about her would hit a nerve with him.
He would have a hard time believing that his son would be so foolish as to sell out his schemes for woman. Ronald would be filled not only with disappointment but also with embarrassment and rage.
Olivia was stunned for a few seconds, clearly not expecting her son to say such things.
Joseph was still mumbling on his bruised and swollen face, unable to get his words out properly.
Olivia watched anxiously, knowing that Sierra had already disappointed Ronald and Master Cameron; she couldn’t afford to lose Joseph too.
“Those words were nothing serious. Joseph cares deeply about you; that’s why he spoke without thinking,” Olivia quickly interjected.
Maggie shook her head, her expression stern. “No, Mom, that’s not right. Putting aside how much his words might have hurt Vanessa, just saying those things in front of Mr. Harris’s secretary was like openly challenging him. How could Nathael possibly let that slide?”
“Can’t you say something in defence of Joseph? After all, he is-
Before Olivia could finish, Maggie cut her off. She argued, “I have no idea Nathael would act against him, and there’s no evidence. Aside from that, what man could tolerate the things Joseph said? Dad, think about it. If someone told you that you were just having fun with Mom and never took her seriously, would you be able to accept that?”
Maggie quickly turned the argument towards Ronald, curious to see if he could bear it.
Ronald pursed his lips and said nothing.
Maggie lowered her eyes and said slightly disappointedly. “Dad, I don’t understand what has gotten into Joseph. How could he say such reckless things in front of Mr. Harris? If Nathael just swallowed his pride with so many witnesses, wouldn’t this become a topic of gossip later?”
Olivia furrowed her brow. She asked anxiously, “What do you mean by that? Why can’t you tell the good from the bad now?”
Ronald snapped, “Enough! I believed he had suffered unjustly, but he was the one who initiated this situation! He deserved it! How could I have fathered such a fool?”
He turned and cast a cold glance at Joseph lying on the bed, his eyes filled with fury and daunting
darkness.
Maggie sneered inwardly. It seemed the Camerons were indeed in a rough spot.

concealing his feelings.
Then again, nothing could anger a father more than his own children proving to be complete fools.
Maggie quickly tried to mediate, saying. “Dad, you’ve always been meticulous and strategic; Joseph has your genes: he’s certainly capable. He’s always been doing well, but his concern has clouded his judgement
this time
Ronald scoffed and glanced at Olivia. He mocked, “He’s not just carrying my genes!”
His words struck exactly where Maggie wanted them.
Olivia’s face immediately turned pale, her eyes brimming with tears as she sobbed, “Ronald, what do you mean by that? You’re blaming me when Joseph was in this condition? Instead of blaming the ones who caused this, you’re turning against me.”
Ronald didn’t respond; he just sneered and left.
