CHAPTER 11
JESS
Laura and I walked out of the parking lot, leaving Sam behind to flirt shamelessly with a few guys from the rival school. She was really starting to blossom, and I loved that for her. Laura and I, on the other hand, were doomed to virgin hell. After Bryan had presented the award, the field was swarmed by girls, and I think he might not have survived.
We waited for a while but then gave up. My plan C wasn’t going to happen. Who the hell was I kidding? Me? Jessica? With an NFL star? Jokes on me.
“At least you have prospects!” Laura whined, and I snorted.
“Key word being HAD. If my brother had any say in it, I’d be a spinster.” I joked, but a part of me was worried that would be my future.
I stopped abruptly when I saw Tom cross the parking lot. “one sec.”
“Tom!” I called, and he started walking faster. When I caught up to him, he seemed nervous and kept looking around.
“What happened?” I breathed, and Tom sighed, seeming defeated for someone who had just won the entire season.
“Look. I don’t want any trouble, Jess. If your brother or Luke saw me talking to you…” Tom trailed off, and he didn’t have to say anything else. I smiled at him. “It’s fine. I get it. Good game. I’ll

see you around.”
Laura was waiting for me, but I had a bone to pick first. I stormed off to the locker rooms and walked right in without thinking. Most of the players were out already, so I didn’t think it would be an issue. I covered my eyes and avoided seeing things that would scar me for life.
An arm shot out and yanked me into a stall.
“What the hell are you doing in here!” Luke was fuming, not only because he was angry but because he had just stepped out of a hot shower, and I could see steam rolling off his body… his very naked body. He had a very tiny white towel draped across his hips, which he barely held together.
I gulped, avoiding looking down at all costs. I’d completely forgotten why I stormed in here in the first place.
“I…” I stared up at Luke, who was staring down at me with so much intensity that I felt it in my soul.
“Talk Jessica. Why are you in the fucking locker room?” Luke seethed, and I clenched my fists, remembering why I was there.
“Because you and Josh have some nerve interfering with my life! Why did you scare Tom off?” I knew I was loud, but I didn’t care if the entire locker room heard me.
Luke searched my eyes, and I saw the muscles tick in his jaw- his well–defined, masculine jaw.
I waited for the sting, the burn when my hand made contact with his face, but it didn’t come. I closed my eyes, too much of a coward to slap him and own it, but Luke had his hand firmly wrapped around my wrist.
