JESS
Luke stood in the doorway, a white towel wrapped snugly around his waist, droplets of water glistening over his bare torso and dark hair hanging in dripping strands around his face. His eyes widened in shock as they landed on me, a look of confusion instantly crossing his handsome face.
Dammit. I wanted to be so mad at him right now, but all I could think was how attractive he was, with steam still rolling off him.
Shit Jess.
Angry.
You are Angry with Luke.
He left me at the airport.
Focus.
“Jess! You are here!” he said, surprised, blinking as if he couldn’t comprehend my presence.
My frustration exploded before I even had the chance to think.
“What happened!? Are you kidding me? I’ve been waiting for about four hours! I ended up getting a cab after Jocelyn called to say the driver would be two hours late!”
His brow furrowed, and he ran a hand through his wet hair,

sending droplets flying. “What? Jess, I don’t understand. Jocelyn told me your flight was delayed by five hours. I was leaving in the next ten minutes to pick you up!” Luke said before grabbing my bag.
“Please get in here!” He stepped aside, waiting for me to come
I sighed and gave in. I didn’t want to do this in the hallway.
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I wanted to tell him it was bullshit and that this was not my fault. It was his, but I didn’t. have the energy. I was suddenly exhausted and only wanted to crawl into his arms and sleep there for a decade. Maybe when I wake up, I won’t be angry anymore.
“Jess, I swear I didn’t know! I thought you were stuck at the airport. I was just about to come get you! I thought I could be there when you arrived.” Luke repeated, and I just stared at him, tiny puzzle pieces clicking into place. Jocelyn planned this whole thing. She probably wanted to ruin this whole weekend.
