PART 3 – CHAPTER 153
JESS
I got back to my apartment just in time to watch the sunset over the beach. The sound of waves crashing in the distance was my favorite. It helped my mind calm down. As much as I hate to admit it, a part of me still wanted to remember, and that part of my brain never seemed to switch off.
After my last competition win, I’d finally been able to buy this condo–a place of my own, tucked away a few blocks from the beach. It wasn’t grand, but it was perfect for me. My parents wanted to get me something better, of course, more up to ‘standard‘ but I didn’t want their money. I don’t even know them.
I spent Christmas at their house, and even though the place felt familiar, they still weren’t.
I pushed open the door, my legs heavy from the morning’s ten- mile trail run. The sweat clung to my skin, and the salt from the ocean breeze made my clothes itch. I needed a shower…
As soon as I walked inside, I stripped off my tank top and leggings and left them in a pile on the floor.
I stepped into the bathroom, my bare feet slapping against the cool tile. The shower’s glass door slid open smoothly, and I turned the handle, letting the cold water hit my skin first. The shock sent a shiver down my spine, making me gasp, but it was exactly what I needed.

My heart skipped a beat, but before I could react, I felt a hand–warm, familiar–against the small of my back. My breath hitched, and I stood still as the hand moved slowly, possessively, around my waist, pulling me backward into a firm, solid body.
I didn’t flinch. I didn’t pull away.
A quiet exhale left my lips as I leaned into him, the warmth of his chest pressed against my wet skin. His fingers slid up my stomach, brushing over my ribs, and a shiver of anticipation shot through me. The familiar touch, the way he moved. My head tilted slightly as his fingers grazed my neck, and I felt his lips against my jaw, soft and teasing.

“Hi, babe. How run?” Aiden whispered in between kissing me and exploring my body with his hands. I felt him. press his hips into my back, his erection already throbbing.
I turned my head, meeting his gaze through the steam. His eyes were intense, filled with something raw and electric, and it sent a thrill through me.
“You’re back early,” I whispered, a smile tugging at my lips as his hand slid up my neck, gently cupping my jaw.
“Maybe I just missed you,” Aiden murmured, his voice low and husky, his lips brushing against my neck. “I definitely missed these…” Aiden cupped my breasts and squeezed slightly before
