CHAPTER 17
JESS
I groggily opened my eyes, my dry throat screaming for water. The credits of some movie I didn’t know the name of, but Sam assured us it was great it was still rolling. I stared at the clock, it was just past midnight, and all of us had passed out – carb comas from the pizzas and snacks.
Sam was snoring away in front of the TV, and LauraLaura was…
Well, where was Laura? I looked around the room, but she wasn’t on any of the couches, and Sam’s snoring wasn’t so bad that she would go sleep in my room.
I rubbed my eyes, trying to shake off the sleepiness.
Despite her snoring, I didn’t want to disturb Sam, who was sleeping like a rock, so I crept out of the living room and into the dark kitchen. I needed water. It felt like I could swallow the

My heart skipped a beat as I realized what was happening. There was a boy in my kitchen, kissing my best friend.
I stumbled backward, my eyes fixed on the scene before me. Like, what was happening?!
We had a pact to vet guys together before taking our V–cards, and I thought we were still on the same page. But now it seemed like Laura had found her Mr. One–Night Stand. I just found it odd that it would be at my house in the middle of our sleepover.
I was upset that she didn’t tell me for a second, but then I also remembered that she probably wouldn’t have felt comfortable after everything with Bryan.
I would have been cool with it if she had just talked to me about
I spun around and headed for the door, but not before I hit my elbow on the frame.
“Ow!” I winced in pain and sucked in a breath. “Shit,”.
