DESSERT
JESS
My fingers gripped the towel tighter as Luke’s lips moved against mine, hungry yet careful, like he was afraid I might break. But I wasn’t fragile, not with him.
His hand slid to the small of my back, pulling me closer to the edge of the bed, pressing me against the solid heat of him. The soft cotton of his towel brushed against my thighs, and I shivered despite the warmth between us.
“I missed this,” he murmured against my lips, his voice rough and breathless. His hands skimmed over my hips, his touch reverent, like he was memorizing every curve.
My palms flattened against his chest, and I felt the steady thrum of his heartbeat beneath my fingers. “You’re here now,” I whispered, the words meaning as much for me as for him. That’s all that matters.”
He pulled back just enough to look into my eyes, his forehead resting against mine. “I’m not going anywhere, Jess,” he said, his voice steady, but his eyes betrayed him, shadowed with the weight of promises he wasn’t sure he could keep..
I cupped his face, my thumbs brushing over the stubble along his jaw. “You don’t have to say it,” I said softly.
Luke’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed hard, his gaze searching mine like he was trying to decide if he deserved this if he deserved me.
The silence stretched, heavy and electric, until he broke it with a slow exhale.

I tugged him closer, wrapping my arms around his neck as I pressed my lips to his again. This kiss was different–slower, deeper, as if we were both trying to hold onto this moment to make it last.
Luke’s hands trailed down to my arms until he was bracing himself on the bed and hovering above me. My hands found the towel, and I swallowed, pulling it apart and letting it drop to the floor.
