LUKE
The cool water of the pool felt like a soothing salve against my heated skin as I swam lap after lap. Each stroke was an effort. to drown out the frustration and anger that had been simmering inside me all night.
My muscles burned with effort, but it wasn’t enough to
extinguish the blaze of pure hate felt. It kept coursing through me. I needed to get control of it. Even on the field, sometimes I see his face in the players as he haunts me, and Josh needs to stop me before I hurt someone.
I pushed myself harder, each lap a desperate attempt to escape the chaos and the memories that refused to let go. Maybe I refuse to let them go. Fuck I don’t know anymore.
Finally, my lungs felt like they were on fire, and I had no choice. but to stop. I braced my arms on the edge of the pool, fil curling into the solid concrete. My arm twitched, itchine my fist into it. I need a a fucking outlet, and this isn’t wong.
Now I was tired and angry. My chest heaved as I sucked in the crisp night air. The coolness of the water and the rain–soaked air did nothing to calm me down. I was a split second away from. making a bad decision, and there was nobody that could stop me. Whenever I closed my eyes, those memories flashed across my mind like a broken videotape.

feeling the pressure of water pushing down on me. If I could, I would stay down here, but I knew that was not the solution, so I pushed off the bottom and reached the surface.
When I finally forced myself to open my eyes, I saw feet–small, delicate feet with purple nail polish. The last thing I thought I would see at the side of the pool in the middle of the night was…feet. The problem wasn’t the feet. Actually, it’s what’s attached to those feet.
They were attached to two very toned and inviting legs, the creamy skin glowing in the dim light. My gaze traveled up further, tracing the well–defined muscles of her thighs, and then I noticed the oversized T–shirt that hung loosely over her, barely covering the top part of her thighs, and from where I was standing, I could see the outline of black lace. Black lace that made my throat go entirely dry. It was a simple shirt, but it was enough to make my pulse quicken as I imagined what lay beneath.
