JESS
School was torture. I would walk past Luke in the hallway, and he wouldn’t even acknowledge me. He wouldn’t look at me or give me any hint that he knew I existed. It’s been a week and nothing.
Now it’s Friday, and both Laura and Sam are back at my house. We’re going to get Laura ready for her date with the artsy guy.
Ever since Sam lost her virginity, she’s been filled with a new sense of confidence. It’s great to see. She used to hide beneath oversized clothes because she felt her body wasn’t good enough, but now she’s starting to show it off. I wanted that for her.
Laura was still struggling just as much as I, two wallflowers who hadn’t gotten our awakening yet. But Laura was far ahead of me unless I just did what he asked.
If I just touched myself.
I internally rolled my eyes and groaned. It’s not like he would know if I touched myself. I could lie…

hair into loose, messy curls, and she was wearing tight, skinny jeans. A cropped white T–shirt hugged her torso, showcasing her toned arms and a hint of cleavage. She slipped on a pair of simple sneakers, and voila.
Sam had done her makeup in a cute, natural way, adding just enough color to her cheeks and lips to make her look radiant. When we stepped back to survey our handiwork, Laura looked… hot. Like, really hot.
Her date was supposed to pick her up at my house because her parents were a bit old–school and strict. We’d concocted a cover story about a sleepover at my house, allowing Laura to have some freedom and no curfew, seeing as my parents were never home.
“Are you ready for tonight?” I asked Laura, trying to sound casual.
She nodded, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. “Yeah, I’m so ready.
Sam and I walked down the stairs to find my brother and Luke in the kitchen with two girls from the cheerleading squad. I should know their names, but I didn’t care to find out.
