Life After Prison by Silencieux novel Chapter 159

Chapter 159

Diane exchanged glances with Megan and they were both utterly speechless. With more than two hundred people there and several among them who could hold their own against a dozen or even several dozen men, it was appalling that Severin could even make a statement that the

bodyguards were ‘like ants’. He could bluff without batting an eye and without the smallest ounce of shame.

“Well, we have nothing more to worry about now that Diane will finally continue working at the company,” Felicia said with a smile. “After you become the general manager, you can’t continue to let your father remain as an ordinary warehouse manager with a deducted salary, right?”

Diane smiled softly in response and said, “Of course not!”

Felicia’s eyes lit up and she looked eagerly at Diane. “Can he get a promotion or something of the

sort?”

“Absolutely not.” Diane shook her head. “I plan to fire him.”

“WHAT?!” Felicia nearly vomited blood. “What do you mean, Diane? You’re going to fire him? How could you be more ruthless than Stanley? Do you want him to completely lose his job?!”

Her mother’s excited look elicited a chuckle from Diane as she covered her mouth and laughed. Don’t you think you’re getting too riled up, Mom? Even Dad is calmer than you are.” After a pause, Diane continued, “I was just joking, Mom. I don’t mean to fire Dad. I just want him to retire early. The company allows two or three people to get early retirement every year, right? I’ll make sure Dad gets one! Once he stops working, the monthly dividends given to retired employees by the company are about two or three times more than his usual working salary. That should be better, right?”

“That’s more like it! You scared me to death earlier!” Felicia’s grief turned into joy.

“You finally came through, hub!” Megan was also a little excited. “I still remember how you wouldn’t protect your family using your power.”

Diane smiled wryly. “I guess I sort of understand now. I used to be afraid of all the things people will say to me behind my back, and I never promoted Dad even if I had the opportunity to do so.. Now that I think about it, why should I care about other people’s opinions? When Stanley was the general manager and laundered the company’s money to spend on himself, Grandma just turned a blind eye to it. Dad isn’t young anymore, so why can’t I do a little something for him?”

She then looked at William, who was noticeably older than five years ago, and said, “And besides, this benefit is utterly insignificant compared to some of the things Stanley has done!*

“Haha! Then I’ll look forward to getting some rest at last!” William smiled, knowing that his daughter had grown a lot in the past few years and became a much stronger person than before. It was heartening to see that she would no longer be bullied that much anymore.

Elsewhere, Larry frowned after leaving the Shanahans’ estate.

“You alright? You don’t look so happy. Didn’t you get the chance to show a bit of might earlier?”

Blade could not help but ask curiously when he saw his superior like that.
