Life After Prison by Silencieux novel Chapter 179

Chapter 179

“You’re the best, Queenie! Remember to come to work tonight. It’s only for a few hours anyway, and you’ll get your pay as soon as you clock off!” Paul looked gratefully at Queenie and heaved at sigh of relief.

“Okay. Please excuse me for now then!” Queenie nodded and quickly walked out with Severin.

As soon as she walked out, Severin said to her, “Why do I feel that there’s something fishy with your manager? Judging from how he acted earlier, it seems like it’s very important to him that your come to work tonight!”

Queenie did not read too much into it. “Two of the girls couldn’t come, so they’re short of people now. He just wants me to help cover for them tonight. I’ll just do it since it’s only one night. I can. still quit once my shift’s over.”

“I still have the feeling that he has something ulterior motive!” Severin insisted on his point of view.

“That’s unlikely. Paul is a very nice person, and if a customer wants to bring us away with them, he’ll explain to them that we only keep the customers company at the bar and that we never spend the night with them. If they insist on having a girl for the night, he’ll direct them to the other girls who specifically play that role.” Queenie smiled and said to Severin. “You shouldn’t have such a negative view of everyone!”

“Okay. Now that you’ve already explained your perspective, I guess I was just mistaken then!” Severin smiled, drove the car, and soon came to a newly-launched property. “What do you think of this place?”

“It’s nice, and the layout is impressive too, but it’s a bit expensive because it’s located in the city center. An ordinary three-bedroom apartment costs nearly two hundred and sixty thousand dollars!” Queenie then smiled and remarked, “Hold on. You already have your big villa, so why are viewing homes?”

“For you to buy!” Severin said straightforwardly. “You and your mother are still living in a less- developed part of the city, and I heard that your houses are a little old. Don’t you want your parents to have a better life?”

“Of course, I do! I just never had the money.” Queenie sighed. “I tend to look at all sorts of property on the internet during my spare time. This place is great because of its spacious rooms and large balconies. I’ve seen their listings before, but when I look at the price, I feel like it’s something I can never afford for the rest of my life.”

“Don’t you have four hundred and fifty thousand right now? What are you waiting for? Let’s get that house!” Severin said immediately.

Queenie smiled wryly and said, “But, the money in my account belongs to Hugh, and it was practically robbed from him. I’m worried that they might try and cause trouble, so I’m afraid to spend the money. What if I have to return it later?”

Severin was a little speechless at Queenie’s timidness. He took back the bank card from her hand and said, “If you say that the money in it was robbed, then strictly speaking, I was the one who robbed him. Now it’s mine, so I’ll use that money to buy a house for your family. Does that sound.

better? I owe your family big time after what you did to help us all these years!”

After speaking, Severin got out of the car with the bank card.
