Severin glanced at them and said, “I’ve just about had enough of this. Lucy needs to die. She has given us headaches time and again, and I’ve already been kind enough to let her go. Now that she’s found another rich young man, I think it’s time to stop her once and for all.” 

When he killed Cain at Brookbourn some time ago, Severin tasked Larry to send someone to investigate Lucy.
