Hagin widened his eyes. He had never thought that the old man would have such power in his frail body and glowered at him while urging Pullen on in merfolk language.
Pullen was heavily wounded then, muttering weakly. Hagin was all the more enraged. "You useless bastard, Pullen! You're such a disappointment!"
As the guards took Pullen away, Hagin smirked once more. "You might have won over Pullen, but don't get smug so soon. You should know that Pullen's the weakest out of the three criminals you're facing. The next two are ten times stronger than him."
Soon enough, the guard brought out the second criminal. This merfolk was even bigger than Pullen in size, with a murderous expression and a long scar on the side of his face.
"Your prey is here, Noss."
The merfolk criminal named Noss glanced at Hagin. His gaze flitted across Wilbur and the old man, and the corners of his mouth ticked up as he said, "Sir Hagin, I can't believe you have human cultivators in the underwater city. Very well, then. It's been a while since I battled human cultivators anyway. I'm going to eat them."
The old man's expression was icy. "You want to eat us? I'll rip you in half!"
Wilbur was just as furious. He and the old man did not fear defeat or death. What infuriated them was that Noss wanted to eat them. That was an act of great disrespect toward humans.
The truth was that Wilbur knew the old man wanted to defeat Noss to make a point. After all, getting the eighth dragon cauldron was going to be quite the task if they could not establish some kind of dominance in front of the merfolk.
