He understood at last that it was not just an ordinary gathering.
Wilbur sat down beside Nancy, glancing at Reggie. "Mister Class President, I thought this was a classmates' gathering. I don't think I know this man here. Was he in our class?"
"Oh, the other classmates couldn't make it. This here is Mister Wade Lynch, from Youthful Travel Agency. He happened to have the day off, so I invited him to come. Mister Lynch's travel agency has over ten branches nationwide. It's worth several hundred million dollars! I was lucky enough to be hired as the general manager of the Seechertown branch, so please don't hesitate to hit me up if you're planning any vacations in the future." Reggie was showering him with praise.
The other three classmates smiled joyously, chatting away with Mister Lynch.
Everyone else was just a regular white-collar worker, and a few hundred million dollars sounded like an astronomical sum to them.
Anyone would want to get to know someone like Wade.
Nancy could sense that something was off too and remained silent.
Wilbur scoffed. What a coincidence it was that the other classmates couldn't make it, but this Mister Lynch could.
It was so clear that Reggie was just using the gathering as an excuse to hook the guy up with some pretty girls.
The realization made Wilbur quite disappointed in his class president, but he figured that it was best he remained silent on account of his classmates.
The food was served shortly after, and Reggie opened a bottle of wine to pour everyone a glass.
The other three girls were clearly fascinated with Wade and did not turn the drink down. However, Nancy refused the drink, saying that she did not drink.
Reggie did not push it and poured Wilbur a glass instead. "Wilbur, our last gathering ended in quite a mess. Are you alright?"
"I'm fine. It was all sorted out perfectly," Wilbur said with a smile.
Reggie sighed. "I'm sorry I didn't stay and help you, I was in a hurry to send a few of the ladies back. I'm glad everything's alright, though."
