"Dailey, are you playing games with me?"

Dailey lifted his head, his dark eyes already brimming with deep desire. He was restraining himself so much that the veins on his arms stood out. Yet this time, he wanted to ask for her consent.

"Do you really think so little of me?"

It wasn't that he was entirely unappealing, but there had been times when he ignored her wishes before.

"You could easily reach out to your men."

"Cliffside Town isn’t my territory. There are people here who don’t want me around."

Christine didn’t want to delve into his business dealings, nor did she care to analyze them. She simply said, "I'm really not the one to help you with this. Why don’t you take a cold shower, and I’ll get some cold medicine for you."

Dailey’s gaze dropped slightly, looking almost pitiful. "Is it really that hard to help me out?"

Christine nodded. "I just don’t think we should get involved again, even under pressing circumstances."

Dailey's mind flashed to the man who had his arm around her. Already fuming, the thought of losing control was looming.

"For your new love interest, is that it?"

Christine knew he was referring to Duke Northwood. Dailey had seen him wrapping an arm around her neck earlier. She didn’t bother to explain. "Yes."

Dailey was beyond reason now. All those days of pent-up frustration were like a dormant volcano ready to erupt, and everything in its path was scalding. Christine recoiled from the heat, desperately trying to push him away, but it was no use. He tore her clothes apart.
