Lost Me, Gained Regret (Jane and Bryant Ferguson) novel Chapter 888

Ding dong—

The doorbell rang.

Dailey got up to answer the door.

Finn handed him a bowl of chicken noodle soup.

Sensing something was off, Finn gathered his courage and asked, "You didn't have much for dinner. Should I have the hotel send something up?"

Dailey nodded and listed a few dishes.

Finn agreed and went to instruct the hotel staff.

He ran into Quinn on his way back and struck up a conversation.

"I'm not sure what Ms. Jackson likes, but the young master doesn't even know what he likes to eat. Yet, he remembers all her favorites."

Quinn munched on a grilled cheese sandwich. "Didn't the young master use to love sweet and sour pork?"

He remembered Christine mentioning it the last time she brought food to the young master's house.

Finn rolled his eyes, "You're such a blockhead. That's what Ms. Jackson likes. Now, whatever she likes, he likes."

Quinn replied, "Oh."

Finn sighed, "Why do I even bother talking?"

Inside the room, Dailey set the chicken noodle soup on the coffee table and invited Christine to eat.

Christine had eaten plenty at dinner, but after some time had passed and it was now late at night, she was indeed hungry.

She walked over to the coffee table and sat down on the floor.

Dailey had already unpacked the meal and handed her a fork.

Christine accepted it, her expression complicated.

She stirred the soup a bit and hesitated before taking a bite.

"The chicken noodle soup is a specialty. If you're not in the mood for it, I can have something else brought up. The hotel will be sending more dishes soon, all your favorites. You can start with this if you like."

Christine couldn't quite describe her feelings at the moment but shook her head and said, "It's not that..."

She paused, then asked, "Do you want some?"

The shadows in Dailey's eyes faded, replaced with a faint smile.

"I'm just worried you won't have enough."

"…"

Christine silently ate her soup.

Soon, the dishes she loved arrived.

"I can't possibly eat all of this. Don't let it go to waste; help yourself," she said.
