Chapter 122 

The driver didn’t respond. Everyone woke up, including Angela. 

After a brief moment of calm contemplation, she spoke in a hushed tone, “If money is what you want, I can give it to you. If this is about revenge, please don’t involve the others.” 

She worried she was the reason for the danger they were facing. She didn’t want anyone else to get hurt. 

The man with the black baseball cap let out a cold laugh and replied, “You’ll find out soon enough. Don’t even think about attacking me. I have a bomb on me that could turn this car into dust.” 

Clara’s voice trembled as she hugged Angela’s arm tightly, asking, “What do we do now?” 

At that moment, Angela became the backbone of the group once again. She forced herself to remain calm and keep her true emotions hidden. 

She reached into her bag for her phone, ready to call for help, but realized there was no signal at all. There must be a signal jammer in the car. 

Angela’s voice was sharp and icy as she asked, “So, what do you want?” 

Nobody answered. 

Within a few minutes, the car came to a stop, and they were surrounded by a group of armed men in black. Held at gunpoint, they were all forced to go to the top floor of the nearby building. The place where they’d been taken was only a short distance from their 

hotel. 

Aside from the three of their colleagues who had gotten into another vehicle, the remaining seven were now hostages. The sudden turn of events caught them off guard, leaving them unprepared. 

A cold wind blew in, causing everyone to shiver on the top floor. It felt like the drizzle was piercing them through their clothes. Even the bravest person would have their mental defenses worn down in this situation. 

A man in a black trench coat appeared at that very moment. Angela couldn’t help but glance over, and she immediately recognized the familiar yet unfamiliar face. 

Her thoughts were jumbled, but a voice in her head told her that this man must be connected to the Bamford family–his eyes and eyebrows bore a striking resemblance to Dexter’s. 

“You’re from the Bamford family. If you have any grudges or resentments, take them up with me. Don’t make things difficult for them!” Angela spoke with force, her tone cool a commanding.

The man chuckled and applauded slowly, a sly smile on his face, “You truly are something, Angela. It’s no surprise that you’re the perfect wife for Dexter. I went through a lot of trouble to gather all these people here. I can’t just let them leave and possibly reveal our plans to others.” 

Angela’s voice was stern and unyielding, like a mother eagle fiercely guarding her nest. No matter what happens, don’t harm them.” 

“Since you’re so persistent, fine then. But what’s in it for me?” The man glanced at Angela with a half–smile. “Why should I let them go? You have to give me a good reason.” 

“This is what Dexter owes you. If you release them, I’ll make sure he fulfills his debt to you. I mean every word.” Angela clenched her teeth, forcing each word out. 

“Haha, excellent!” With a flick of his wrist, the man signaled his men to take the others away. “Give them food and drinks, and don’t cause any trouble for them.”
