Chapter 14
“Mr. Bamford, isn’t that Mrs. Bamford?” Erica spoke cautiously.
In contrast to her somewhat anxious expression, she was secretly thrilled and was barely able to contain her excitement.
Dexter’s gaze was locked on the slender figure behind the floor–to–ceiling glass. He took out his phone and dialed Angela’s number. Then, he watched as she pulled out her phone, glanced at it briefly, and casually hung up his call.
The two business associates who were with Dexter asked tentatively, “Mr. Bamford, what’s going on? Why aren’t we leaving?”
Erica responded on his behalf, “Mr. Hart, Mr. Levin, please come this way. Let’s take a look at the other facilities in the mall.”
At that moment, Angela was still unaware of the impending danger.
“Are you really giving me this painting? Can you bear to part with it just like that?” Finn smiled as he admired Angela’s artwork, obviously delighted.
Angela raised an eyebrow. “Why? You don’t want it? If that’s the case, I’ll take it back.”
She reached for it playfully, but Finn quickly held her wrist to stop her. “No! This painting is mine.”
“Angela Graham!” A cold and harsh voice of a man suddenly cut through the air.
Angela froze and felt a chill run down her spine. She wondered in confusion, “Dexter? What is he doing here?”
“It’s only been a few days, and you’re up to your tricks again.” Dexter’s words were laced with venom. Each syllable was like a sharp blade that pierced deep into Angela’s heart.
“And who are you to speak to her that way?” Finn shot up angrily. He was nearly as tall as Dexter. His handsome face was tensed, but his presence was slightly less imposing compared to Dexter’s.
“Have you already found yourself someone new after just a few days? Aren’t you going to introduce him? What’s his name?” Dexter’s gaze was glacial.
“Enough, Dexter!” Angela’s body stiffened. She explained through gritted teeth, “He’s my friend.”
“Friend?” Dexter let out a cold laugh. “Do you think I have no idea as to whether you have friends?”
That was true. For years, Angel’s life had revolved around Dexter. She had lost not only her friends but herself as well.

“Remember this, Angela–as long as you’re my wife, keep your promiscuous behavior in check. Don’t go around flirting with anyone you meet, or I’ll make sure both you and this pretty boy disappear,” Dexter said threateningly.
Unable to hold back, Angela slapped him.
Everyone around was stunned, including Dexter. His cheek stung, and his head whipped to one side from the blow. A clear, red handprint began to appear on his face. He was utterly taken aback as his mind buzzed, filled with nothing but shock.
“How dare you hit me?” He sneered coldly with a dangerous gleam in his eyes.
Angela’s eyes were reddened, and her shoulders were trembling slightly.
She bit her lip and retorted, each word filled with defiance, “Yes, I hit you. So what? What right do you have to criticize me? You surround yourself with women, and you allow them to come and humiliate me at home. Did I ever utter even one word of complaint?
Angela couldn’t take it anymore. Why was it always her who had to endure and suffer?
She had once loved him and had been willing to bear any unfair treatment just to stay with him. But now, all her love for him had vanished. The more she looked at him, the more repulsive he seemed.
Finn looked at Angela with a complicated expression. From the look in his eyes, it was evident that he felt deeply sorry for her. “Angela, let’s go.”
His voice was gentle, which was a stark contrast to Dexter’s cold and accusatory tone.
Angela’s nose tingled as tears welled up. She turned to leave, unwilling to show her vulnerability in front of Dexter.
However, he suddenly grabbed her hand so tightly that it hurt. In the next second, he lifted her and carried her out of the café in his arms.

Angela struggled desperately, knowing exactly what awaited her.
“Put her down! You’re going too far!” Finn stepped in and blocked his way, his usual gentle demeanor replaced by cold resolve.
“Oh? Is your boytoy angry now?” Dexter smirked, looking down at Angela with a dark smile. He remarked, “Interesting. He seems fun.”
Angela trembled, shaking her head in panic. “No, he’s just a friend. Don’t go after him!”
She shot Finn a quick look, urging him to leave. Dexter was a man capable of terrifying
Ings, and anyone who crossed him faced a miserable fate
“Fine, then tell him who I am,” Dexter commanded with a wicked half–smile. Deep in his attractive eyes, there was an indescribable sense of extreme danger.
