Joseph appeared incredibly frail, and his complexion was ghostly pale.
Angela's heart ached when she saw him. She wanted to approach him and get a closer look. However, Ursula and Cecilia stepped forward first, wiping away their tears. One by one, others joined them, crowding around Joseph.
As such, Angela could only crane her neck to observe from afar, silently praying that Joseph would wake up soon.
By evening, everyone was occupied, and it was finally Angela's turn. She volunteered to stay and take care of Joseph, and no one disagreed.
Dexter said sternly, "I'll stay back with you. I've arranged for someone to bring toiletries and our clothes. We'll be staying in the adjacent ward."
Angela didn't see any problem with his plan and gladly accepted it. However, Joseph was still unconscious, which left both of them feeling a bit bored.
Angela held Joseph's hand and talked to him. After that, she called Callum to request two days off for personal matters. Callum agreed without asking many questions.
Meanwhile, Dexter was busy with his work. The two of them sat across from each other silently.
As the night grew, time passed steadily, enveloping the entire hospital in an almost eerie silence. Angela found herself lost in a daze when suddenly, Dexter's voice broke through the stillness.
"Would you like something to eat?"
"How can I possibly have an appetite..." Angela had barely completed her sentence when her stomach let out a loud growl as if protesting against her words. A wave of embarrassment washed over her.
Dexter smirked as he placed an order for food delivery, including barbecue and Angela's favorite fruit tea. The two settled by the window, indulging in their meal and drinks. At that moment, they unexpectedly found a rare sense of mutual companionship.
"It wouldn't be so bad to be like this forever." Dexter smiled before looking up at the soft moonlight filtering through the window. He was enveloped in a shimmering silver glow, and the chilling air that usually kept people at bay had dissipated.
