Angela clearly wasn't part of the conversation. She frowned and focused on her tablet.
"Angela?" Fiona called out as she approached and noticed Angela engrossed in a drama series. She was wearing headphones, but they were hidden from view by her hair.
She removed the headphones. "What happened?"
Fiona was speechless. "Nevermind. Just keep watching."
"How can she be so carefree?" Fiona glanced at Dexter with concern, feeling like Angela was a little slow-witted.
Dexter retorted, "Should I do something about it?"
Angela removed her headphones and overheard his question. "Nope. He is the ambassador Mr. Snowden approved. Even if I disagree, I can't take any action against him."
She emphasised "Mr. Snowden".
Upon hearing that, Dexter's expression changed. "You only care about Callum. Do you really have to listen to him?"
She snorted. "Of course. He's my superior. He also readily supported me during my toughest times. So I'll definitely respect and follow his orders."
Dexter was seething with anger, yet he found himself with no way to retort. After all, he was the one who had driven Angela into a corner back then.
Just then, his phone rang. It was a call from Natalie.
"Dexter, hurry! Your grandfather is sick!" Natalie's panicked voice came through the phone.
Angela and Fiona stood up, promptly following Dexter out the door.
