"Angela, how could this happen? This is impossible… Zayn promised me that once our child is born, he will take us abroad to settle down and never return. How did things turn out like this?"
Tears of despair welled up in Mia's eyes, and her whole body trembled.
Angela gripped the steering wheel tightly, remaining silent. She didn't want to speak because the moment she did, she knew she'd start cursing.
Mia wept in soft, scattered sobs, but they lasted only a short while before she wiped away her tears.
"Angela, thank you. Thank you for getting me out of there. Otherwise, I would still be an ignorant fool!"
Gritting her teeth, Mia scoffed. "Since Zayn has chosen to betray me, he can't blame me for what happens next!"
Angela turned to look at her in surprise, almost in disbelief. Hadn't Mia been crying and heartbroken just 20 minutes ago? Was she fine now?
Mia had already dried her tears at that point. She even smiled at herself in the mirror.
Noticing Angela's gaze, she turned and asked, "What? Do you think I shouldn't be like this?"
Angela was confused for a moment.
"No, no, not at all." Angela shook her head vigorously. "I just thought that your shift in attitude was pretty quick. I must admit, you have great resolve."
She needed to properly advise Mia not to tie herself down to a man. Zayn was nothing but a stain from her past at most. Once she had her child and established her career, was there any man she couldn't have?
"I know." Mia sniffled before saying, "Honestly, I've been thinking that something is up for a while. Luckily, I no longer have any ties to that bastard Zayn. If he wants to get engaged, let him! He's the heartless and deceitful one here. I couldn't care less about a man like him!"
Before long, they arrived at Villa Heights.
