Dexter wasn't defending Zayn; he was merely stating the facts calmly.
"But that doesn't make it okay. He might be fine with it, and sure, Mrs. Jewell would never harm her own son, but for them to team up and deceive Mia, who's an outsider, is utterly despicable!" Angela fumed, her hands on her hips.
She was so fired up that she might as well start a revolution.
Dexter remained silent, his shadow stretching long beside her under the setting sun, exuding an inexplicable sense of loneliness.
Noticing the odd atmosphere, Angela turned to ask, "Is there something you want to say?"
Dexter scratched his nose. "Uh… I just wanted to give you a heads-up. Mia might want to check her assets to ensure everything is in order."
Angela's eyes widened instantly, staring at him in disbelief. She had a bad feeling about this.
"You… Do you mean…"
"Yes." Dexter nodded. "Mrs. Jewell might not come from a prestigious background herself, but she managed to marry into the Jewell family with her intelligence.
"Over the years, as the Jewell family's business empire expanded, she played a significant role in it. I don't know everything about her, but I do know she's ruthless and never lets grudges go. And…"
He paused for a moment, meeting Angela's eyes. "I'd advise you not to provoke her either. If you take things too far, it won't end well for you."
Angela scoffed, unconcerned. "Why should I be afraid of her? I haven't done anything wrong. She's the one with moral issues. If she wants revenge, then bring it on."
Afterward, she woke Mia up from her sleep. Once Mia gathered her senses, Angela repeated Dexter's warning with an uncharacteristically serious expression.
Mia immediately called several of her company's top executives. A while back, when she had started feeling unwell and had been burdened by her pregnancy, she had already placed trusted people in key positions to oversee the company.
