Chapter 44
Judy was increasingly anxious.
She had already told her friends that they were going to have a party here. If Angela kicked her out, it would be a huge embarrassment.
Moreover, the house was truly beautiful. It was an enchanting castle–like villa built over a decade ago, fulfilling every romantic fantasy a woman could have.
This was also a trophy from her victory over her rival. That sense of spiritual pleasure couldn’t be matched by any other form of happiness.
She needed to calm Angela down first.
“Angela, why don’t we do this? We could live here together, as a family, all under one roof. Then, we can bring your sister back from abroad, and we’ll all live happily together. Doesn’t that sound better?”
Judy had a 20–year–old daughter, Noelle Graham, who was studying abroad. She came back only once a year. Compared to her useless son, Noelle was the true apple of her and Bill’s eye.
“No way,” Angela replied without hesitation. She pointed toward the door. “Get out. Now.”
Judy’s face stiffened. Just as she was about to retort, Bill came downstairs.
A cigarette dangled between his fingers, and he carelessly flicked the ash onto the expensive carpet. His presence seemed to pollute the air itself.
Angela frowned. “No smoking in here.”
Bill sneered. “Who do you think you are, telling me what to do? This place is mine now. If you make me happy, I’ll let you stay for a few days. Otherwise, get out. Stop acting like the world owes you millions.”
Without saying another word, Angela pulled out her phone to call the police.
“What are you doing? Are you out of your mind?” Bill strode forward and knocked Angela’s phone out of her hand.
Caught off guard, Angela was shoved backward, crashing into the couch. The pain in her shoulder made her gasp.
“What are you doing, Bill? A little scolding is fine, but how can you hit her?” Judy’s voice dripped with mockery as she looked down at Angela with disdain.
Bill waved her off. “Get her out of here. What does she think she’s doing, trying to steal our house?”
Chapter 44
“I’d like to see who dares to kick me out!” Angela suddenly lifted her head.
At that moment, her eyes turned piercingly cold. A sharp, commanding light flashed within them. Her entire demeanor shifted, exuding an unshakable authority that sent a chill through the room.
Dexter, who had just reached the door, paused,
Through the floor–to–ceiling glass door, he saw Angela slowly rising as she propped herself up on the couch.
She was so frail, yet at this moment, she stood tall and proud, like an unyielding battle flag He had truly underestimated her before.
“I said, this is my house. You all need to get out!” Angela’s voice rang out, clear and
