Chapter 47
After work, Nora arrived at a café near the company. A woman was already waiting for her. “Nora, over here!” A young woman waved her hand.
Nora walked in confidently with her high heels clicking on the floor. Her every step exuded elegance.
“Shelly, what brings you by today?” she asked, pulling out a chair. Nora was Shelly’s cousin.
Noticing Elena sitting next to her, Nora froze for a second. Why was Elena here too?
“Ms. Ruthford,” Elena greeted, extending her hand.
Nora quickly composed herself, smiling as she shook Elena’s hand.
“Nora, I heard Angela’s joined your company. How’s she doing?” Shelly went straight to the point.
Nora raised an eyebrow. “She’s just a regular team member. She only started today. I haven’t seen Mr. Snowden paying much attention to her. She seems pretty down–to–earth, butly, she doesn’t look all that innocent.”
The thought of Angela’s stunning, makeup–free face made Nora feel a twinge of
annoyance.
On her way out of the office that day, she’d overheard a group of male colleagues chatting about Angela, and they were practically drooling.
“Ugh, Nora, you have no idea how awful she is. She’s embarrassed me more times than I can count. Now she’s under your control, so you’ve got to get back at her for me!” Shelly wrapped her arm around Nora’s, shaking it as she begged.
Nora felt helpless. Through the corner of her eyes, she glanced at Elena.
The latter wore a smile, looking completely detached as if nothing concerned her,
Nora knew Shelly didn’t have a strong opinion on anything and was friendly with Elena. However, Shelly often ended up being used by others. With a subtle gesture, Nora held Shelly’s arm down, signaling her to calm down
“What do you think, Ms. Carrey? Ms. Graham is Dexter’s wife, after all. I wouldn’t dare do anything to her.”
If Dexter found out, they’d all be in serious trouble.
Elena set her cup down and said in a composed tone, “I haven’t heard Dexter mention Ms. Graham lately. He’s probably busy.”
The way she said it hinted at something more.

Chapter 47
Nora picked up on it. She turned to Shelly, who was practically bursting with anticipation, and gave a slight nod.
“Fine. There’s a contract signing tomorrow night with Golden Hood Entertainment. I’ll take Angela along
“Golden Hood Entertainment?” Angela was taken aback. “Wait, I’m going to… sign a contract?”
Golden Hood was a big entertainment agency with tons of artists on its roster.
They often worked with DawnStar on custom styling and sometimes lent out high–end gowns. It was all hutually beneficial.
But the head of Golden Hood was known to be a sleaze. Everyone in the entertainment industry knew he was a greasy old man who’d take advantage of his artists.
