Chapter 59
The noise drew Angela’s attention, and she looked around in confusion before noticing the source of the sound was coming from the third floor.
Standing up, she saw a thug on the third–floor corridor holding a woman dressed in black hostage. The man waved a dagger wildly, forcing the crowd to retreat in fear.
Angela thought the woman being held hostage looked somewhat familiar.
“What’s wrong?” Callum glanced at the commotion and commented casually, “The food’s getting cold.”
Angela turned her gaze back to the table and saw that Finn had filled her plate with her favourite chicken skewers.
Suddenly, louder screams erupted from the third floor, as if someone was trying to put an end to the chaos. Angela suppressed her unease, but the rest of her meal felt tasteless.
After the meal, Callum left, and Finn suggested they go to the mall. It had been a while since they’d gone out, and with the weekend coming up, they could take it easy the next day.
Angela agreed. She needed to buy some food for her pets anyway.
“By the way…” Finn hesitated before finally voicing his concern. “Does your husband still hit or scold you?”

Angela couldn’t help but laugh. “Relax. No one’s ever hit me, and no one ever will.”
Finn raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”

Before her words faded, her phone suddenly rang. The sharp ringtone was one she had specifically set for Fiona.
“Angela, where the hell are you? Every time Dexter gets into trouble, you’re nowhere to be found! Are you still his wife or not?” Fiona roared as soon as Angela answered.
Ignoring Fiona’s rudeness, Angela asked urgently, “What happened to Dexter?”
Since their divorce hadn’t been made public yet, Angela knew she couldn’t turn a blind eye. After bidding Finn goodbye, she quickly drove back to Bamford Estate.
Dexter was indeed injured. A deep, worm–like gash ran from his shoulder to his arm.
The doctor was tending to Dexter’s injury. Facing away from her, Dexter furrowed his thick.

brows in pain but didn’t make a sound.
Next to him, Elena was wiping away tears, looking distraught. Angela noticed a dark bruise on Elena’s neck, as if someone had strangled her. Bloodstains marked her clothing, though it was unclear if they were hers or Dexter’s.
Angela immediately understood.
The woman who had been attacked on the third floor of the Prestige Marina Mall had been none other than Elena. Dexter must have taken the knife for her, or perhaps gotten injured while trying to save her.
It was a heroic rescue, and anyone would be moved.
