Before Stephen came in, Angela had just sat back down at her desk. She was deep in thought about how to get tickets to Bamford Co’s industry training event from Dexter.
Suddenly, Stephen knocked on her door and entered her office. “What are you up to, Ms. Graham?”
Stephen was a man in his early 30s. He was tall and slim with a calm and composed personality. He had a close relationship with Callum.
Angela had a good impression of him so far. She got up from her seat and poured him some
tea.
“Nothing much; just thinking about a few things. What brings you here, Mr. Turner?”
“Ms. Graham, I came to talk about what happened earlier today. Nora acted recklessly today –it was indeed her fault. I wanted to apologize on her behalf.”
As soon as he started speaking, Angela immediately understood what he was there for.
“Don’t worry about it,” she said, keeping her response short.
Stephen continued, “When Mr. Snowden appointed you as the head of the design department, many of us made a bet that you were just a figurehead. But after today, my impression of you has changed. You really do know how to manage your team. I wonder though, if you’re as skilled in design?”
His words carried a hidden meaning–he was questioning her professional abilities.
Angela placed the cup of tea in front of him. With a smile, she replied, “Only time will tell.”
She hadn’t fully figured out his intentions yet. Therefore, it was better not to say too much.
“Then I look forward to it. For one to succeed in the design department, it all comes down to real talent. Even Nora, who was publicly humiliated by you today, possesses great skills. I hope you don’t disappoint me, Ms. Graham.”
Hearing his words, Angela couldn’t help but feel irritated.
She finally understood why Nora dared to act so boldly–she had someone like Stephen backing her up.
But it didn’t matter–only time would tell.
When Angela returned home from work, she was surprised to find Dexter still there. He was occupied with work in the study room on the first floor.
Fiona, on the other hand, was waiting for Angela in the living room.

“Mom, what brings you here?” Angela sighed inwardly.
Every time she saw Fiona, she couldn’t help but feel like she had to be on high alert; she had to be careful with her every move.
Fiona gestured to the seat beside her and said in a commanding tone, “Come here, have a seat.”
Just then, Dexter, who was dressed in casual home clothes, stepped out from the study. He took a seat opposite the two women.
It now appeared that both of them had been waiting for her.
“I’ve arranged for a doctor to come by and give you both a health check–up. Would the both of you please cooperate later?” Fiona said, her tone was surprisingly gentle. Even her gaze on Angela seemed less sharp than usual.
Angela rolled her eyes inwardly.
There was no point in arranging for any doctor–none of them could solve the real issue.
The doctor that Fiona mentioned was Dr. Kenneth Berger. He was also a well–known professor at a medical university with students from all over the world. Furthermore, he also ran his own private clinic.
A maid guided Kenneth into the living room.
When Angela saw him, she couldn’t help but feel a lump in her throat. She quickly rushed forward to help him in. “Mr. Berger, it’s been so long!”
Kenneth chuckled and patted her on the shoulder softly. He smiled warmly at her.
“Angie, you’ve lost quite a bit of weight!” he exclaimed before turning to Dexter. “Dexter, have you been treating her well?”
Kenneth had been a close friend of Angela’s grandfather. When she was younger, she often went to his house to play chess with him.
The two old men had always been very stubborn and often argued. Nevertheless, Kenneth had always welcomed Angela with open hands.
