“What do you mean by ‘sort of? Your attitude is insincere!” Mackenzie was genuinely annoyed by this guy’s behavior, and on the brink of walking away.

“Mackenzie, I admit I messed up this time, so I’m taking you out for dinner. Please don’t be mad, okay? I’m worried you might skip meals again and end up with stomach issues!” Emmanuel reached for her hand quickly.

Mackenzie paused, turned away, and chuckled before regaining her composure.

Considering this guy’s genuine concern for her well-being, she decided to let it slide this time.

“Mackenzie, what do you say?” Emmanuel eagerly asked.

She gave him a stern look and replied, “Fine, let’s go.”

Relieved, Emmanuel nodded and went downstairs to get the car.

Their silent treatment ended within a day, and both husband and wife felt relieved. Neither of them wanted to drag out the

silent treatment.

Especially Mackenzie, who was carrying this guy’s child. Continuing the silent treatment was just causing her unnecessary stress. Thankfully, this guy knew how to make amends, or else she’d be lost.

As the couple wrapped up their dinner at a restaurant, nearing nine o’clock in the evening, Mackenzie’s tension began to ease. She had been contemplating sharing some good news with her companion when a call from Miss Lexi interrupted her thoughts.

“What? Beatrix is missing? She hasn’t contacted me all day!” Mackenzie’s expression turned to concern.

Seeing Mackenzie’s worried look, Emmanuel dialed Beatrix’s number.

As expected, the phone was off.

Mackenzie ended the call and heard Emmanuel’s phone notification. She said, “Let’s hurry home and see if she’s there!”

“Okay,” Emmanuel agreed, sensing the seriousness.

The couple rushed home. During the drive, Emmanuel learned about the situation. Beatrix had disappeared after acquiring the Hadley factory. If she wasn’t home, there was a good chance Aidan was involved.

Upon returning home, the couple’s worries intensified upon seeing the house dark and deserted.

“Beatrix! Are you here?” Mackenzie called out, realizing she wasn’t there, she looked to Emmanuel for answers.

Emmanuel understood her silent question and called Ashton.

After hearing about the situation, Ashton was pleased. “Emmanuel is increasingly relying to me.” Ashton thinks to herself.

First, he could repay the favor of helping her solve cases before.

Second, she could legitimately request martial arts training from him.

“It’s not been 24 hours of disappearance, we can’t file a case procedural case yet. But I’ll investigate Aidan privately. Please be patient,” Ashton said before she took action.

Emmanuel hung up, feeling a mix of emotions. While he appreciated Ashton’s help, his main concern was Beatrix’s safety.

At the same time, he had to reassure his wife.” Mackenzie, try not to worry too much. Beatrix is a Quillen and no one would dare hurt her.”

He refrained from making threats, knowing it’d only worry his wife more.
