Not only had she thought of it, but she was already on it.
Of course, Roseanne couldn't spill the beans to him, only saying:
“There's always a light at the end of the tunnel. We'll figure something out.”
“Well then—best of luck to you guys.”
With those words, he turned to leave.
“Carlson!” Suddenly, Roseanne called out to him, “Sometimes, you've got to be a bit selfish, think more about yourself. After all, you can't live under someone else's roof forever, bending over backwards, right?”
Carlson cracked a smile: “Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep that in mind.”
…
“What? You didn't get the keys?” Edna furrowed her brows in frustration, glaring at Hertha standing before her with a displeased expression: “How do you even manage things?!”
“Roseanne said the keys were already handed over, and she even pulled out the rule book on me, saying that's how things are supposed to be done, so she couldn't give them to me. What was I supposed to do, wrestle her for them?!”
Hertha was clearly getting impatient.
Edna's accusing tone was really getting on her nerves.
Was it her fault?
Going to Roseanne for the keys was already a stretch.
Like Roseanne herself said—Who do you think you are? Why should I give them to you?
Now Edna was acting as if everything was her fault. Hertha might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but she wasn't completely clueless either!
“Ms. Edna, I've got to ask, why are you so hell-bent on getting the keys from Roseanne?”
“A crummy old lab, what's there to covet? Oh, right, there is that one CPRT machine. But don't we already have two? Why the greed?”
After a barrage of questions, Edna reacted like a cat with its tail stepped on, instantly bristling—
“You ask too many questions! If only you were as efficient with your tasks as you are with your mouth, maybe then you wouldn't fail at such a simple task!”
