Stealing?
Corley chuckled, “Well, you’d have to be able to steal it first.”
Teague smirked, “How would you know if you haven’t tried?”
“What? Are you planning on stealing my aunt? Ha! First, you’d have to get past Grandma and Grandpa.”
Teague shrugged it off and turned his scrutinizing gaze to his son, “So, which girl dumped you, huh? Spill the beans.”
Corley just gave him a look.
“A minute ago you couldn’t stop talking, and now you’re silent all of a sudden?”
“…Even if I told you, you wouldn’t know her.”
Teague let it slide and raised his glass, “Come on, it’s not often we get to hang out like this. Cheers.”
Clink—
Their glasses met, and they both swallowed their thoughts along with the whiskey.
The moon was high, and the night was deepening.
Corley had had quite a bit to drink, his eyes glazed with the haze of alcohol.
Teague, on the other hand, seemed unaffected despite the amount he drank. His hand was steady as he poured more, his face showing no sign of inebriation.
Two strikingly handsome men, drowning their sorrows in expensive bourbon, naturally drew the curious glances of passersby.
Corley suddenly set his glass down, “Dad, tell me, how do you get a woman to come to you, to fall for you?”
Before Teague could respond, Corley waved him off, “Never mind, asking you is pointless. You haven’t figured it out yourself.”
Teague just sighed. His son sure knew how to hit where it hurt.
It was 1 a.m. when they finally left the bar.
Corley was thoroughly drunk, but Teague was sober enough to take the responsibility of getting his son back to the hotel.
“Hic! Dad, why are you here?” Corley suddenly snapped awake as they entered the room, standing up straight.
Teague, drenched in sweat from supporting him, just sighed, thinking to himself that if his son had woken up just one minute earlier, he’d have been convinced it was on purpose.
Corley looked around, letting out a long “Ohhh,” “Dad, did you bring me to a hotel for a room?”
“…”
“I’m telling you, I’m done with that scene, I’m living clean now, don’t try to drag me down.”
