Roseanne paused for a moment, then burst into laughter. "Of course, I do! I'll give it to you, and you can hand it over to him, alright?"
"Sure thing!"
Roseanne grabbed a few more cans and placed them in her car.
"You’re the best, Roseanne!"
"I think you and Scales make a good team too."
With that, she got out of the car, dragging her suitcase towards the apartment building.
Mamie, blissfully unaware of the teasing in Roseanne’s words, excitedly pulled out her phone:
"Hey, Caley! Are you at the apartment? I’ve got some beef jerky and sauce for you! Yep... from Roseanne."
On the other end, Scales replied, "Yeah, I’m home. Come on over."
"Alright! Be there in twenty minutes."
"Okay."
Scales hung up and dashed downstairs, quickly throwing on a jacket and changing shoes. "Grandma, I won’t be home for lunch, and... I might not be back for dinner either!"
"Where are you off to?"
"Heading back to the apartment!"
"But didn’t you say you’d stay for dinner today?"
Scales was already out the door, shouting back, "I changed my mind!"
"This kid... what’s got him in such a rush?"
...
Roseanne parked at the foot of the apartment building, planning to catch her breath.
She glanced at the suitcase beside her, then up at the seventh floor, debating whether to make two trips. Just then, someone swooped past her, picking up the suitcase and heading upstairs.
"Hey?"
Roseanne blinked in surprise.
