Love Burned, She Rose Unscathed novel Chapter 761

Roseanne held her phone, slightly dazed.

On the other end, a gentle laugh came through, "What's the matter? You already call me 'bro,' and now you're hesitating to meet? Or are you saying... you don't accept our current relationship, and all those things you said before were just empty words?"

"Alright, hang on, I'm coming down now," Roseanne replied decisively.

Corley was right; there really was nothing awkward about their relationship now.

Her straightforwardness left him momentarily speechless on the other end.

After a pause, he spoke again, "Grandpa and Grandma returned from Pinehollow, and since you've just finished your project and have some free time, they thought I'd come get you for dinner at the old house."

The grandparents had stayed in Pinehollow for a while and were quite reluctant to leave. They could see their daughter every day, and with Norris, their attentive and reliable son-in-law taking care of things, life couldn't be more pleasant.

That was until Madge received an invitation from her publisher to attend a book signing in Luminis, followed by a reader event in Ravenport. Naturally, Norris had to go along.

The publisher promised Madge's family would have all expenses covered—meals, lodging, airfare—the works. They were determined to ensure Madge had a delightful trip and the best experience possible, hoping she'd be more inclined to participate in future signings.

The grandparents wanted to go too, but worried about the toll of travel on Grandma's health. Madge was the first to veto the idea. She initially planned to fly to Luminis alone, leaving Norris at home to keep Neely and Geneva company.

Norris had no objections to that, but the grandparents preferred he accompany Madge to provide support. They were all thinking of each other, and Norris found himself in high demand. It amused him; aside from his time in the classroom, he'd never felt so needed.

In the end, Madge couldn't counter the grandparents' wishes. Norris was hers to take along.

With their daughter and son-in-law off on their trip, the grandparents decided to head back to Lumina City. After all, their home was still there, and they'd been away long enough. Even if they eventually planned to move to Pinehollow to be closer to their daughter and son-in-law, it was a decision for the future.
