The truth was that he had fallen for Assa long ago–he’d just suppressed his feelings for her, thinking something was wrong with himself. 

He hadn’t realized how he truly felt about her, not when she’d told him, for the last time, that she no longer loved him. When she’d left, when he’d gone into her room and failed to tind the love letters and drawings she’d drawn of him, when he’d come to Angleria to see her dating and eventually getting engaged to someone else…. 

Despite having fallen for her long ago, he’d never realized his feelings for her. But now, the teelings he’d buried deep burst forth. 

Enco telt like a fist had changed tightly around his heart. It hurt so much that he couldn’t breathe. For a moment, he wanted to rush inside and grab Alyssa’s hand while he confessed his feelings for her. He knew he’d been wrong in the past; he hoped she would give him a chance to make it up to her. 

However, the cruelty of reality kept him where he was. He stood there stittly, unable to move. 

The snow piled onto his shoulder, and the frostiness was bone–deep. However, it couldn’t compare to the ice in his heart. 

He watched as the woman who’d once loved him with all her heart stood beside another man as they exchanged sweet nothings. 

Assa’s eyes were bright with joy and delight, which Enzo hadn’t seen in a long time. 

He was suddenly reminded of a rainy night from a long time ago. The rain had been as heavy as the snowfall on this night. 

That night, they’d also had walls and a window between them. Enzo and Nadine had enjoyed each other thoroughly before the warm closet while Alyssa had been on her knees outside in the rain. She’d watched them go at it the whole night.
